Little known artist, but some fantastic songs. Very talented young lady. Think Brady, Shola Ama, Zanie. If your into your soulful R&B, this is a must have album
For all the neo-soul lovers out there, this album will be nothing astonishingly different, but well worth a listen. For those who listen to standard soul and pop, this album will present a refreshing sound. Hinda, though able to sing in a very low register, keeps her vocal melodies typically high throughout the album. Though this may put-off or surprise listeners on the first play, it is easy to see through the unusual voicing to the remarkable songwriting and vocal harmony. The album is packed with a satisfying spectrum of songs from slow-jams and poignant love songs to funk-fuelled disco grooves.
Musicians will be inspired by the tasteful use of instrumental effects and tight arrangements. Certainly, the production is top-shelf. Strongest songs come in the form of "I Wanna Be Your Lady", "My Eyes", "On and On" and "When You Touch Me There", but whilst tracks such as "If You Want Me" may appeal more to the mainstream pop audience they should not be disregarded.
The album contains a track for almost any occasion, and although heavy on love-songs they are generally presented lyrically in a creative and truthful manner, avoiding the trap of writing what the listener 'wants to hear'. Girls will love the soulful and heartfelt messages and guys cannot fail love Hinda's sexy voice and will nod appreciatively to the consistantly smooth backbeats.
