The early records of Alan Price, Georgie Fame as well as The Peddlers catalogue epitomized 'Swinging London'. If you dig the early Pink Floyd or Hawkwind this may be for you.
I have been a fan of the music of Roy Phillips since my days as a pro musician. I gained a lot of 'know-how' from listening to his use of the organ, the leslie speaker and the overall effect when combined with bass and drums. Some might call that style, but I hoped to create my own style, and eventually did. The music is familiar, yet 'fresh'. I wanted to purchase a comprehensive collection of all music they had recorded on a modern format - CD. This CD is not a complete total recording of all of the Peddlers work, I have other material on Tape. The CD's (two in this collection) are very good, and I have found them most enjoyable. I am on the lookout for further additions in CD format for my collection. I would recommend them to anyone. I do not have any complaints, the music - to me - the most important factor.
I first heard these guys about 1968,doing a nightclub in Wakefield, and was instantly bowled over by their musicianship .3 excellent musicians playing jazz to a high standard.Led by the remarkable voice and organist Roy Phillips, with a superb bassist in Tab Martin, and the man behind the drums,Trevor Morais.I enventually bought all their albums, each one a gem.My favoutite track has got to be Smile, its a true Peddlers classic.A 42 track gem of an album, buy with confidence.
