If you like Michael Bolton, this album is probably him at his best! As his music is not really in vogue at the moment, you'll very likely pick it up dirt cheap too!
I bought this cd because I had it on cassette and wanted to upgrade.I found that this album was of a romantic variety and good for lover's maybe but I loved the music and the passion in which Michael delivers the lyrics to the listener very intense at times I would say but I find that Michael borders on shouting at times which can be a bit abrasive...I can't help but thinking that Dianne Warren's imput on the songwriting is helping this album become stronger than it might have been without her this also being the time when she was becoming very popular too with other artists...For me this has to go down as one of the best constructed musical compositions that I have had the pleasure to listen to...but if you have the tendency to lean towards more upbeat music then maybe pass on this one it can be slushy at times...
I think this is the best of michael Bolton albums. You know the saying 'the old ones are the best', well this CD has stood the test of time (now 17 years). Great to put on when getting ready to go out or if you just want to relax. In my top 20.
This was the first CD I ever bought back in 1991. It was advertised on the TV and I went straight out to find it. Having lost this one years ago I was happy to buy another on ebay recently. In the past I loved the melodies and words that had bite and finesse. Michael Bolton "The Music" was a proficient songwriter who had finally "made it good" with his own vocals.
Now, 15 years later, my whole viewpoint seems to have changed. I find that his dramatic style does not work so well for me with the melodies. I would prefer them as rock anthems with some strength to the beat and anger. It's really very strange for me as I have changed from love to loathe with this album...
