I bought this album, being a slight death metal fan, not knowing what I bought.
I'm not going to bubble on about what my opinions of it are, I'm going tell you what you get from the Zombie.
13 Tracks, all very different and spooky. This album sets the pace of the oldskool horror movie cult scene, and is meant to have some comedy value which it does. The tracks are some of Rob's finest workings including Superbeast, Demonoid Phenomenon and Dragula (Dragula is the original to the remix soundtrack featured at the beginning of the film The Matrix, where Neo meets Trinity for the first time in the underground club). Some fantastic bassline guitar riffing to get you nodding your head. I must say that i find Dragula to be an excellent driving track (especially if you've seen the video of him driving around "in his Dragula").
The inset layout gives you the feel of the oldskool horror cult theme with some comic strips and halloween style posters.
This album would be the PERFECT background soundtrack to any halloween party, as it appeals to everyone and not just the death/heavy metal hardcore!

i got this cd after being a fan of white zombie. this album is amazing. not 1 bad song on it. dragula and superbeast open the album and from there on in, its great kick ass rock from the master before he decided to direct films, lol.
This was the first Rob Zombie album I ever bought, and one I always will be fond of listening to as it reminds me of some good times. The music on this album for me is memorable for several reasons, including it's great bass lines, guitars and lyrics. Some of the experimental stuff with dance beats is less interesting for me, as I am more a fan of the fast beats of the metal songs. Obviously some of the tracks are more well known - Dragula and Superbeast being the two that stand out the most. However the Ballad Of.... is a great song and the initial build up to the raucous chorus keeps you definitely in suspense! A classic horror rock album, this is definitely one of his best, though would recommend something else for the beginner... perhaps one of the White Zombie albums as a starting point so you can not just get used to his singing style but also to be able to keep track of his ascent from lead singer to solo performer. The music on this album is worth a listen, and I would recommend buying the album for it's content as well as it's artwork in the booklet.
This is one of those albums when you hear it for the first time and you never know what to expect or whats going to happen next. We'll, you do know what to expect from Rob Zombie if you have heard some of the projects from his past. There are good variations in tempos and styles and the production is so full of sound, which in my opinion is a great formular for a great album. Rob Zombie can create great songs from nothing and turns it into a magical ride into the unexpected, not knowing whats around the corner, and when you get there you wish you had got there sooner. Great album from one for lifes unexpected influences?
