Walking away from their more conventional guitar based songs of the past into a more experimental sound. Standout track is undoubtedly 'We Used To Be Friends' Not a bad album from the dandy's. Worth a listen.
What can I say, these guys are clearly masters at whatever they turn their twisted boho minds to. If you're expecting a dozen variations on the song from the Vodaphone advert, look elsewhere. If, however, you aren't a total indie pop guitar snob and can look past the comparative absence of organic instrumentation on this CD, there are moments that easily match their commercial peak of 13 Tales From Urban Bohemia and their creative high watermark of Come Down. The spoken-word intro shows that, as ever, their tongues are firmly in their cheek, but there's no messing around when it comes to electro pop tunes as muscular and catchy as We Used To Be Friends, Heavenly and You Were The Last High, to name but a few. Put aside your preconceptions and give it a listen, you won't be disappointed.
