War of the worlds remake of the film take 4

Ok so you have been waiting to see this film for ages and youve decided to buy it..
Before you spend youre money ask yourself these questions:

Have you seen the origanal War of the worlds?
Have you seen the 2nd and 3rd remakes of this film?
Have you listened to the sound track?

If you have answered yes to any of these questions you are about to be a bit disapointed.

The film has some real obvious flaws, things that are just not part of the story, charachters that arn't the charachters they should be and doing things that others should be doing instead. Confused????? you will be if youve seen the origanal and you watch this.
This is nothing like it should be the aliens land (are born) in a different way, mad people arnt who they should be, the red weed Isn't made from lava???
I understand keeping up with the times has to be done but you can't change the plot to a film.

On the plus side the graphics are great, tripods are origanal but hugely magnificent and the charachters are pretty good at what they do.

On the major down side if you want to hear a little brat screeming for the next 2hrs then be my guest, if you want to see a remake that has takern a turn for the worsed then ok, if you want waste your money on a film thats been modified to the point of changing the basic rules of a story well i think Im gonna leave it there..............

Verdict: save your money, his is the worst tom cruise film ive seen in ages.

Personally I wouldn't watch this film again. Waste of 2 hours in my view. I think its one ofTom Cruise's worst films. For me there was something missing and overall the plot and storyline was very weak.

Only worth watching if you are being forced in my view !!!

A very overused word but this is - compared to the original - crap ! The storyline meant very little and with the FX at their disposal, this was an utter waste of time & money. I don't know of anyone who liked it.

Drama and suspense excellent, not too cheesy. You are sucked into the story immensely but i think it helped that I knew the basic story only, before I watched. It is a bit scary for children but all in all a good family watch.

War Of The Worlds (Tom Cruise remake)
Review created: 18/05/08

1st the positives - visually superb and now the rest, v disappointing remake, adds nothing new, guess the script writers were either on strike or just hadn't read the book. Maybe the editor got things wrong with the cutting of the film, but it didn't hold together well. Film left me with the impression the film makers were just trying to show Tom Cruise as a action hero.

Taking into account the names involved in making this film I was looking forward to watching it. However, I was disappointed with the casting, acting, glaring holes in the plot and the abrupt ending. Good special effects though.

The Free iPhone Guide

To get yourself a free iPhone all you have to do is follow the 3 easy steps:

Step 1 : Sign up for a free iPhone
Sign up at the link below to get your free iPhone. We recommend this free iPhone site because it's been TRIED and TESTED to work.

http://apple.freebiejeebies.co.uk/4425 (copy and paste into browser)

You can choose other prizes like free ipod touch from this site too! Make sure you use a real email address. Use your real details when you sign up so that the company knows where to send your iPhone! Remember that they have been proven legitimate, so will send you your free iPhone if you do everything legitimately!

Step 2 : Try an advertiser's offer
Basically all you need to do in this step is complete one of the offers, this is where the freebie site make their money, if you complete an offer then the freebie site will recieve commission for it. So if you complete Coral which will only cost you £5 to complete, the freebie site gets £25 from Coral. The two best offers are Lovefilm Free DVD rental (rent two DVD's, keep them for about 2 days, send them back and then cancel the trial) and Coral (bet £5 on a sport). I would reccommend you do Coral as it credits in an hour and is really simple to do, Lovefilm however can become complicated and takes up to 2 weeks to credit! You can also try one of the other offers, most are gambling offers. Don't skip this step! You must complete this step to get your free iPhone!

Step 3 : Refer some friends
This part is a lot easier than it seems, especially now with free iPhone sites getting so popular. There's lots of people online who want a free iPhone too, so start referring them! You only need to get a few signups before you'll be finished. You can ask your friends or your online buddies. I already got a free PS3, Wii, and XBOX Elite without even having to ask my friends for help - there's lots of people online who want a free iPhone like you! One of the easiest ways to get a referral is to do a favour for a friend and ask them to sign up in return. That way, you both can get a free iPhone!

Basic rules
Don't break these rules! This is the only reason that you won't get your free iPhone, so make sure you follow these rules!

- One account per household - don't use a public computer to sign up!
- Use real information - this is a proven legitimate site and they will not give out your information.
- Only complete each offer once! You cannot complete the same offer again, even for different freebies.
- Don't try to cheat the system. This site has been proven legitimate, and they will catch you if you try to cheat. If you do everything legitimately, by following this guide, you will get a free iPhone!

Here the link again:- http://apple.freebiejeebies.co.uk/4425

Thats all, just follow my guide and you will have your free iPhone in no time.

Thank you.

  War Of The Worlds (DVD)

Aliens turn America into an abattoir in this intense Steven Spielberg movie. Tom Cruise stars as the dad trying to keep his estranged kids ahead of the wave of destruction
There is one moment in Spielberg's War Of The Worlds where fleeing people pause at a level crossing. Suddenly an express train blazes by, every shattered window billowing fire. That train is this film. By the time the end credits roll, you'll be in the foetal position.

The days when audiences kicked back their heels and laughed at the vaporisation of the White House in Independence Day are long gone. Ironic destruction is passé. War Of The Worlds has a pummelling, exhausting intensity, moving from mass extermination to private claustrophobic horrors - in Spielbergian terms, from the crowds crammed in train carriages in Schindler's List to the taut cat-and-mouse of the director's early Duel. The clichés of the event movie are stripped out. No love interest. No wisecracking buddy. No concerned president pondering the disaster. 'War Of The Worlds' is so influential in all its incarnations that the filmmakers have had to work hard to make sure you haven't seen it all before.

Tom Cruise plays Ray Ferrier, a blue collar guy with an estranged wife, (Otto) and two children, a teenage son Robbie (Chatwin) and young daughter Rachel (Fanning). He's got the kids for the weekend, although his fridge is empty and in the lounge are some engines he's working on. News reports are coming in of strange electrical storms over the Ukraine but everyone is too busy playing the dysfunctional family to notice. Father and son play a tense game of catch in the yard - they both wear baseball caps but for different teams. "You're an asshole. I hate coming here," says Robbie.

The bizarre storms appear over Ray's house, knocking out all the electrics, mobile phones and cars in one enormous magnetic pulse. Ray heads to an intersection in New Jersey, where crowds are gathered round a smoking hole in the ground, just as they did in HG Wells' original novel, where English daytrippers headed out to Horsell Common near Woking for a glimpse of the capsule from outer space. Both Wells and the George Pal-produced 1953 adaptation of the book drew out the crowd's tentative approach to the capsule, sending a priest to make peace with the aliens, but here we cut straight to the destruction. Something bucks and writhes under the road. The tarmac cracks. The front of a church splits off. Out comes the tripod. It emits a foghorn war cry, the bass note from Close Encounters Of The Third Kind's peaceful melody. Then the carnage begins.

As the tripod unleashes its death ray upon the crowds, turning them into a grey dust, we are right back in the fall of the twin towers of the World Trade Centre, when clouds of cement particles rolled down Manhattan streets. Ray flees home caked in the ash of his fellow New Yorkers, gathers up the kids and flees in the city's one remaining working car. The struggle to keep his family alive as overpasses explode, ferries capsize and the might of America's army is reduced to one giant fireball leads Ray into very dark moral places, including murder.

Verdict
An unstoppable juggernaut of action and anxiety that will have you blundering from the cinema in a state of nervous exhaustion. Don't expect any soft drink promotional tie-ins with this summer blockbuster.

Lightning storms herald the arrival of alien monsters in Spielberg's refreshingly dark and brutal remix of H G Wells' sci-fi classic The War Of The Worlds. There is no Independence Day bombast here; everything is told through the eyes of Ray Ferrier (Tom Cruise), an ordinary man whose only concern is the safety of his children (Dakota Fanning and Justin Chatwin). As the world around them is engulfed in flames, survival may be the best they can hope for.

There are three Steven Spielbergs. First up is warm, fuzzy Stevie, who makes life-affirming slush like The Terminal. Then there's Serious Steven, who makes worthy films about Important Issues. And finally, you have psycho Steve, who just wants to creep up behind you and yell "Boo!" Psycho Steve is the guy who made Jaws, Jurassic Park, the best bits of Minority Report, and (yes!) War Of The Worlds. The story may be sci-fi, but the product is a horror film, plain and simple: a brilliantly constructed scaring machine.

"GRIPS YOU LIKE A BEAR-TRAP"

Cruise is on fiery form, exploiting the sharky side of his personality to expose Ray's frailties, and he's well matched by Fanning's panicking child, in a performance so genuinely traumatised that it's uncomfortable to watch. The only bum note is sounded by Tim Robbins, hamming it up dreadfully as a Schnapps-pickled survivalist.

Beginning as an alien reworking of Saving Private Ryan and quickly evolving into a feast of stunning imagery ripped straight from a nightmare, WOTW astounds, alarms and grips you like a bear-trap. Psycho Steve is back. Hold on to your popcorn.

OVERALL, AND AMAZING FILM!
I AM NOT REALLY INTO SI-FI FILMS BUT THIS ONE IS TRULEY THRILL FITTING!
IF YOU BUY THIS FILM I GARUNTEE YOU WILL NOT BE DISSAPOINTED!!

10/10 !!!!!!!!

What a great film. Made by spielberg, so i knew it would be a good film and it does do itself justice after just a few minutes. The film's CGI techniques are barely noticable compared to some films and the structure of the film blends in really well so there are no points where it seems to just pass time and lack any depth. The movie is captivating all the way through and it can be picked up quickly at any point, although at times it would be thought there might be a little variation to the sort of environment cruise finds himself in. nevertheless, this probably stands up to the critics reviews in that it is liklely to be the best action/epic/alien film made yet....highly recommendable!

Always have been interested in Science fiction matters, whether written e.g. H G Wells, cinema, DVD's. This version does not match the original film which I saw when it first came out - for me, this later version was too much of a repeat and represented a 'struggle' for the producer to match the first one.
