War Of The Worlds (DVD)

THIS HAS GOT TO BE ONE OF THE GREATEST SCI-FI FILMS OF ALL TIME. THIS MODERN ADAPTATION OF THE CLASSIC FILM CAPTURES YOUR IMAGINATION, AND ALMOST DRAGS YOU INTO THE FILM. ABSOLUTELY BRILLIANT.

I bought this film for my son who's a big Tom Cruise fan and we both watched it. I have to say that I was expecting the usual Tom Cruise adventure and I wasn't wrong - he is usually saving the world in one way or another! I was hooked on this movie from the start, it's fast paced, exciting and well acted and the music adds to the tension. Even if you already know this classic tale I would recommend that you watch this new updated version as it is excellent. (I still prefer the original music though but you can't have everything)

It made a great Christmas present for my brother. It was in good condition and the dvd cd was not scratched or tampered with.
I liked and brought this product as i got it for a bargain price.

The only problem was the box was a tiny bit scratatched.

Overall i was very happy with my purchase and it made my brother happy.

Yet again we have a magnificent film produced by Speilberg to keep us thoroughly entertained.

War Of The Worlds.

What a film.

Aliens and stuff like that don't really do it for me, but this is an exception.
Perhaps the acting from Cruise and Fanning make it a worthy watch.
Some decent films, with tension and a half decent storyline make it a decent watch.
Special effects play a mjor role in this film, and they have been masterminede to perfection.

A must watch, and a must buy!

I did at first decide to buy it for myself as had lost mine and i am completely besotted with anything to do with tom cruise, but have since decided to give it to my father as a surprise gift.

This is one of those films that you need to be glued in your settee and a box of popcorn ready from the outset. Make sure you have performed all your incidentals, switch off the mobile and turn down the landline phone so as not to be interrupted.

Because once you pressed the Play button,on your DVD player you will be glued to this fascinating fiklm from start to finish. It is espoecially nice if you have a Home Cinema Dolby effect 6 speaker system and a very very wide screen to view. You could be in a Cinema surrounding at the confort of your home. No interruptions please, because it is an eye catcher, thriller and even better than King Kong in my opinion.

So I have seen it three times with friends at my place and it gets better each time I play the DVD.

I loved the original 1950s movie. The remake is different in that it views the war with the aliens from the perspective of a father and his two children. I think this was a bad idea, reducing the action and interest of the original movie, which viewed from the perspective of the army.

There are some good scenes in the film. There is a great scene where Tom Cruise sees the first Alien walker, its ray guns burning people to ashes as they run down the street. Another classic scene, borrowed from the original movie, shows the family hiding in a cellar, while an alien probe searches for them, moving itself eerily around corners. Another good scene shows a ship overturned by an alien submarine. There are some okay scenes showing the military fighting the alien walkers, but they could have been better.

Overall I rate it as average, as there are not enough great scenes, and it is inferior to the original movie. I think this film was a wasted opportunity, but it is worth watching once.

I bought this DVD after seeing it at the cinema, i thought it was truely great, which i still think now. Ive watched the movie who knows how many times.
But if your thinknig of buying the 2 disk DVD, think again. Its full of items which are mostly dull and long. You sit and watch a graphic logo run arcoss the screen which takes around 30 seconds (which is way to long), just to listen to a man who is somehow related to the movie go on and on about how great the director is and how great the set was and that the cast was the best in the world. Well i kinda agreed at first, but then he just go's on and on and on for ages, just chatting away about the same thing, if i could find that man, i would say "they cant be that great". All the other features are a bit boring, i could only sit through about the first 10 minutes of each, but who knows how long they go on for.
My verdict, buy the 1 disk, you will not be disapointed about the flim, its great, but dont waste your money on a 2 disk when you will only be disappointed.
