Bjork - Vespertine (CD 2001)

Vespertine has become a favourite of mine. Its transporting qualities and occasional otherworldliness creates –for me – a feeling akin to childhood memories of the Singing, Ringing Tree, along with an almost physical sense of icy sculptures and snowy vistas. Bjork’s wonderful, breathy, intimate delivery is utterly absorbing and her sensual, wonderfully idiosyncratic lyrics are sensitively carried by the subtlety of the production. Uplifting and emotionally charged, it is a superb album.
