First things first, its Guns N Roses, so what can i say... What an album, ALL fantastic songs!!! Just make sure to buy Use your illusion 2 at the same time!!
A must have for any rock or metal fan, but also an enjoyable album for those new to the genre.
Although others may prefer the all-out balls of Appetite for Destruction, the Use Your Illusion albums offer a slightly more mature edge to the onslaught that is Guns N' Roses. Offering more light and shade perhaps than the previous album and EP, Use Your Illusion 1 begins heavy with "Right Next Door to Hell" and ends with a more experimental and though provoking edge in "Coma". The album includes the classics such as "Don't Cry" and "November Rain" and the raucous cover of Paul McCartney's "Live and Let Die". It also includes fun, teasing tracks such as "Dead Horse" and "You Ain't the First", bitter songs such as "Don't Damn Me" and "Bad Obsession" and also a rare chance to hear the vocal stylings of Izzy Stradlin' on "Dust N' Bones" and "Double Talkin' Jive", before he left the band at the time of the Use Your Illusion tours to be replaced by Gilby Clarke.
Probably a slightly harder sound overall than some of the more introspective songs on Use Your Illusions 2, but both albums are a wide range of examples of what wonderful things Guns N' Roses could do when all talents were combined.
I bought this item for my boyfriend as a birthday present. He couldn't find it anywhere. He was well chuffed when he got it and plays it constantly, I've even started to listen to it a lot, it's great!
