The youthful faces of the young Irish rock group stare out from the cover, suggesting that this collection of singles gives an accurate chronology of U2's finest tunes from the raw sound of the early '80s to the 21st Century Men of Rock. However, scanning the tracklisting this isn't so. Although there are the biggest singles from the early '80s - "I Will Follow", "Sunday Bloody Sunday" et al, some fans might ask where are the singles from "Boy" and "October"? Plus some of their most popular songs from later years have been omitted.
This collection does have two advantages however - there's a brand new song "Window In The Skies" and a cover of The Skids "The Saints Are Coming" done with Green Day which weren't available elsewhere. There's the added bonus DVD featuring U2 at their best - live in concert. So, although some already-U2 fans may be a little disappointed with this, it's not a bad collection for those people who've never really followed U2 and just like the odd single of theirs, and those who've yet to experience them live.
A word of advice though, if you bought both of the "Best Of" CDs they issued a few years ago, you might want to give this a miss because you already have the definative U2 single collections.
