Top of the range Sat - Nav, reads text messages aloud !

This top of the range unit is much the same as the 710, with the addition of maps of almost everywhere in the world you are likely to drive a car (UK,Europe,USA and Canada) and the ability to play music on an in built 20GB MP3 player, control your ipod and store pictures, also it has a hard drive instead of an SD memory card.
The 4" widescreen means you can navigate with the touch of a finger and you can store frequently visited places so you don't have to type in a location every time. Watch the screen or listen to the spoken instructions on where to go, couldn't be easier ! You can even select different voices, but I guarantee you'll go back to Jane in the end.
For me a huge bonus is the hands-free mobile phone calling via bluetooth, the tomtom comes with a built in microphone but is best if you use the extension mic (also included). The hands free quality really is very good, most people wont be able to tell you're not holding the phone. The unit even takes a copy of all your mobile numbers out of your phone automatically so you can dial people directly from your tomtom without picking up your phone! It can even read your text messages aloud! (along with some street names) A remote control comes with the unit (But not with 510 or 710)
Another bonus is that it if you connect to your PC you can download all the UK speed camera locations, which could save you the price of the tomtom in speeding fines. Similarly railway stations, shopping centres etc, also you can load in grouped items like Tesco stores, congestion charge zones or BP petrol stations plus hundreds of others if you connect it to your PC every now and again. (Many free web-sites)
On the down side these are top of burglar Bill's Christmas list so never leave it in the car if you can help it, they might even see the window bracket or the mark it leaves on the window and break-in just to check the car for you. (Been there, done that!)
A sound investment if you do a lot of driving or can't find your way out of a paper bag, plus this unit saves you the price of a hands-free car kit for your phone. I could never go back to using maps again now, Get one you won't regret it !

Price at Comet (On-line) 18-01-2007, Tom Tom 910 - £349.92

  910- the cat's whiskers

I bought my 910 when they were still around £300 (impatience) and have used it extensively since. I am constantly amazed by its accuracy, usually saying "you have reached your destination" RIGHT OUTSIDE the relevant house!. In France too it stopped me outside number 6 rue du ??? in a remote village near Poitiers, Quite extraordinary. If your 910 won't light up, perhaps from being left in a raging hot car, there is a very hard to find (first time only) 'reset'. It lives down a tiny hole and can be easily pushed with an unwound paperclip. Mine has been cooked twice and resets instantly. Otherwise absolutely fantastic. I went into Bath city having foolishly left TOMTOM at home, and the day became a pig. Back to the 'A-Z' stopping every few hundred yards with trailer, turning round etc. -doesn't happen with Tomo. The hands free phone thing is brilliant, you answer your call with a touch of your finger, chat away using tomo's excellent speaker and end the call in the same way. When you approach a speed limit you're 'bonged' and the limit displayed, and in the inevitable event you stray over 70, the speed display goes red. Tomo gives distance and time to destination, and can almost instantly find an alternative route should you make a mistake on coming out of a roundabout for example. All in all I regard my Tomo as the greatest asset for the motorist since pneumatic tyres, my trip into Bath proved the point. If you're going any where, don't leave without Tomo! GPS is so valuable I'd like to thank our friends in the US for allowing everyone to use it for free,-unlike the looney Galileo EU system for which we are and will forever pay through the nose! Incidentally, just in case you think I'm one of those helpless souls who can't read a map or navigate, I was a private pilot and still hold a Yachtmaster ticket. Even so Tomtom saves all the messing about and can be programmed in seconds. I do still carry a now largely redundant road map,'just in case', but to date, I would 100% recommend Tomo to everyone. You WILL save time and money by using it. Barry Capsey. barrycapsey9@hotmail.com

  Tom Tom 910 Sat Nav
Review created: 10/03/08

Sat Nav operates very well, it can re-route quickly if you change direction to get you back on track, the sound is good, it has bluetooth to connect a mobile to operate hands free, generally an all round good sat nav - cons possibly the bulky size but it is has 20 GB storage

Review created: 10/02/08

I have had a tom tom go the early model for about 3 years.
This was also a EBAY purchase.
I had seen the different options this newer version had and
thought it was time to upgrade as it looked to have more interesting options.
I checked on ebay and found there were several .
Having checked feedback onthe sellers I bid on one or two until winning one.
It arrived reasonabley fast and postage was ok I always check the postage costs as I find some sellers are making extra money on top of postage.
The item was a graded one but carried a 12 months guarantee and it does appear to be fine although I have not yet used all the options yet it does seem only slightly better than my go model but a bigger screen and hard drive and extra maps, all in all I am pleased with my purchase and also the price paid.
I shall of course now sell my original tom tom on ebay and someone will get a very good sat nav with the updates as it is in excellent working order.

It was a Christmas present for my husband. We are quite happy with the product, but you should be aware you need to update at least some of the maps. We tried it in the Czech Republic. I know the way very well, it did choose us rather complicated route through Prague (but would work if chosen), then got lost in the fields luckily we still on the new road:). The road has been here for over 2 years and it is the main road. Otherwise in the UK great helper.

how to get a Wii, iPhone, PS3, 360 for nothing

The Free iPhone Guide

To get yourself a free iPhone all you have to do is follow the 3 easy steps:

Step 1 : Sign up for a free iPhone
Sign up at the link below to get your free iPhone. We recommend this free iPhone site because it's been TRIED and TESTED to work.

http://Gifts.real-incentives.com/2992 (copy and paste into browser)

You can choose other prizes like free consoles from this site too! Make sure you use a real email address. Use your real details when you sign up so that the company knows where to send your iPhone! Remember that they have been proven legitimate, so will send you your free iPhone if you do everything legitimately!

Step 2 : Try an advertiser's offer
Basically all you need to do in this step is complete one of the offers, this is where the freebie site make their money, if you complete an offer then the freebie site will recieve commission for it. So if you complete Coral which will only cost you £5 to complete, the freebie site gets £25 from Coral. The two best offers are Lovefilm Free DVD rental (rent two DVD's, keep them for about 2 days, send them back and then cancel the trial) and Coral (bet £5 on a sport). I would reccommend you do Coral as it credits in an hour and is really simple to do, Lovefilm however can become complicated and takes up to 2 weeks to credit! You can also try one of the other offers, most are gambling offers. Don't skip this step! You must complete this step to get your free iPhone!

Step 3 : Refer some friends
This part is a lot easier than it seems, especially now with free iPhone sites getting so popular. There's lots of people online who want a free iPhone too, so start referring them! You only need to get a few signups before you'll be finished. You can ask your friends or your online buddies. I already got a free PS3, Wii, and XBOX Elite without even having to ask my friends for help - there's lots of people online who want a free iPhone like you! One of the easiest ways to get a referral is to do a favour for a friend and ask them to sign up in return. That way, you both can get a free iPhone!

Basic rules
Don't break these rules! This is the only reason that you won't get your free iPhone, so make sure you follow these rules!

- One account per household - don't use a public computer to sign up!
- Use real information - this is a proven legitimate site and they will not give out your information.
- Only complete each offer once! You cannot complete the same offer again, even for different freebies.
- Don't try to cheat the system. This site has been proven legitimate, and they will catch you if you try to cheat. If you do everything legitimately, by following this guide, you will get a free iPhone!

Thats all, just follow my guide and you will have your free iPhone in no time.

Thank you.

A method to get a free plasma screen!
Review created: 10/12/07(updated 15/12/07)
by:

Want a big plasma screen TV for free?? then visit:

www.HDTV.real-incentives.com/9909 (copy and paste into browser address bar)

All you have to follow to get your free gift are 3 easy steps:

1. Sign up to the site above. (fill in your details eg. name, country).

2. Complete an offer - For UK residents the best offer to do is Coral, all you have to do is bet 5 pounds on a sport and thats it! For US residents you can do the STAMPS 30 day free trial, this is totally free. If you dont like their service then just cancel your subscription. Your offer will STILL show as complete.

3. Refer family and/or friends - just get friends and family to complete step 2 for you.

Thats all! Its as easy as that! So give it a try, you 've got nothing to lose.

Fairly ease to use. Receiver too bulky, sloting and locking the receiver into the cradle can be a problem especially when one have to stretch towards the windscreen. Detaching it from the cradle is easy.

It is a superb locater of addresses and is about 98% accurate.
There are too many bear left and right when it is simply follow the road.
I use it every day as a delivery driver.
The main area of failure is country locations, but it gets you within say 100 yds.

As my husband and I spend a lot of our retirement touring the continent and the UK it is desirable to have an navigator that is reliable. We had struggled with Tom Tom on a Dell Axim hand held computer using a bluetooth, which like all things when asked to multi-task does everything you ask it but doesn't do them satisfactorily so we felt we should push the boat out and buy a navigator that was designed for purpose. After reading several reviews some were a little off putting with regards to the screen holder which fits onto the car windscreen. Also criticism of the actual docking mechanism, we were a little bit wary of purchasing but having seen one on ebay at a very good price we decided to buy it and have found that all the above fears in our case are unfounded. Added extras apart from superb navigation is the ability to play all our mp3 tracks and watch photos taken on our travels.

TOM TOM GO 910 - User Review by Skyfox1884

I already have a Garmin eTrex handheld fully installed with up to date maps of Europe, but the rub is that it is handheld and difficult to legally use whilst driving - it will also provide accuracy down to 20ft.
The Tom Tom I have now also has the most up to date maps and is designed for use whilst driving making it the ideal companion to my Garmin.
The Tom Tom is also the best of its type in my opinion offering many other features such as that of an MP3 player, essentially means you don't have to carry a multitude of gadgets around with you.

TomTom is definitely not the easiest GPS to use.
Review created: 06/12/07
by:
6 of 6 people found this review helpful.

I have wanted a SatNav for some time. Unfortunately, I should have taken more time in research before I bought one, and I would then definitely not have bought a TomTom910 !
The instrument is very clever, but is far more complex than necessary for any UK user. It [allegedly] has full mapping for the USA, Canada and most of Europe. HOWEVER, IT DOES NOT HAVE UK POST CODES AS ADVERTISED BY THE SELLER, but it does have [totally useless] DUTCH POST CODES !!
Because of the enormous coverage of the instrument and the absence of UK Post Codes, it is very difficult to program. In fact I have so far (in a month) not succeeded in entering most addresses I have tried.
When it works, it is excellent. The information displayed is very comprehensive and the ability to personalise the display is first class. However, the extensive coverage of the instrument introduces unecessary complexities and wastes a lot of time. For instance, it has on several occasions tried to direct me to places overseas, after I have asked for guidance to a UK destination only a few miles distant.
I have tried the TomTom Email help service, but found it totally useless. They informed me that UK Post Codes should be included and advised how to insert them through my PC. I followed the instructions precisely, but without success. When I informed TomTom, they agreed that I would not be able to install UK Post Codes using their first instructions and promised to send more advice. Nothing arrived and TomTom "help" has since been silent.
When I bought the TomTom910 I understood that "safety[speed]camera"; locations were included. I finished up paying TomTom £20 for the information. So far I have been warned of a "safety Camera" only once so I don't know whether the facility works. I also understood that the TomTom would warn of exceeding the speed limit. So far it has warned me once but I have checked it several times without response. It either does not work or is extremely intermittent. It is certainly not a reliable source of speed limit reminders.
At the time I bought my TomTom, a friend bought a Garmin. It is infinitely easier and quicker to program. It has UK Post Codes installed. It is not packed with useless information and consequently is less than half the size and weight of my TomTom.
In conclusion; The TomTom 910 that I purchased through Ebay does not have the facilities advertised by the seller. The [alleged] coverage is vast but will be valueless to most UK drivers. Without UK Post Codes, it is very difficult to program. In my experience,TomTom support is useless.
IF I WAS STARTING AGAIN, I WOULD DEFINITELY BUY A GARMIN.

I was upset when i received the Tom Tom, this chap advertiesd this product saying its worth £500 and has receipt for it. When it came only the tom tom and car cradle arrived, to me that not worth £500 plus the fact he said its only two months old, i feel very upset at this, because i did send him the money straight away the same day the auction ended and have sent it postal order which there is a receipt for. How can some advertise this product and looking at other tom toms that were availbe they came with full packages and did not cost that much more then i paid. On top of this he left a feed back saying i am a bad payer it took me a week to send the money called me arrogant which is untrue its slander, he didnt proved the receipt it came in a tatty box on manuals on cd rom for the pc, basicly just the car mount and tom tom not even a charger. please could you investigate this.

This handy little tool is a must for anyone who isn't very confident at map reading or just for someone that needs to get to their destination that bit quicker. The 910 will plot your destination and map out the route on screen and with the aid of a friendly voice will instruct you in which direction you need to go. The 910 can also plot diversions due to heavy traffic and tell you when speed cameras are closeby. The Bluetooth option is very handy for hands free calling and will save people a packet on fines if caught not using one. I for one will be using my 910 a lot more than having to study a map before setting off on a long journey. It also gives you directions in Europe and Canada and the US. Time to go visit the world.
