This is an excellent example of a fun entertaining movie that also works on a serious level and is probably the best Gulf War flick we have. The cast seems a strange mix initially, Clooney, Wahlberg and Ice Cube, but they exhibit some good chemistry. Battle scenes are suitably chaotic and violent and there is a particularly impressive scene that shows exactly what a bullet does to your body when it hits you (this has consequently been shamelessly copied by CSI and others). Overall, a hugely recommended film!

George Clooney is the special forces captain who plans a heist on a stash of enemy gold in the immediate aftermath of the Gulf War. Mark Wahlberg, Ice Cube and Spike Jonze play the soldiers with the treasure map. The four venture into enemy territory and find themselves getting caught up in a bloody and confusing civil war.

Director David O Russell - previously renowned for his low-budget indie excursions Spanking The Monkey and Flirting With Disaster - lets the brutal battle scenes speak for themselves, deliberately slowing the action down and showing the bare and bloody reality of bullets ripping through flesh. But there's more to this film than fighting - the dialogue is humorous and highly satirical, while the farce of the confusion of who's fighting whom and why presents a strong anti-war message.

Verdict
Far more intelligent and perceptive than most actioners, yet with enough thrills and spills to satisfy adrenalin junkies.

great movie, good story and humour. deffo recommend it if you not seen it or jsut not watched it in long time

Love this film! It's a bit different from your avarage war movie. I think its something husbands and wives girlfriends and boyfriends can watch together as it combines action, comedy and emotion. The only reason it didn't get 5 is because there are some amazing films out there!

for some people not there kind of film but for me its an excellent film with three greet actors who play excellent parts

Good fun heist-style romp, set in the Iraq war immediate aftermath.
Not a war film as such, but the setting and events do raise some of the elements of warfare as the characters experience them.

The pace is good with no dull spots and there is some good wit.
Not an outstanding film but worth watching a couple of times.

One of best movies I have seen, so I boght it for my favourite movie colection.
Good play from George Clooney and Ice Cube, very intresting story with good ending. :)

Ace film, great story and is not a fairytale with a rubbish ending. This film can be watched over and over again and it never gets dull.

I purchased this DVD as the film has always been a favourite of mine and i hadnt seen it in a while. I thought that the DVD was excellent value for money considering the price of it and the seller had great feedback comments so i decided it was a good move to purchase it while i had the chance.

Its an excellent film, good twist, keeps your attention, well worth a watch and i would recommend it to anyone looking for a film for a nice night in!!!
