Thirteenth step by A Perfect circle is the follow up to their debut record "Mer De Noms" Unlike it's predecessor, this is what many would call a "Concept Album" with all of the songs dealing with the problem of addiction from a different perspective. "The Package" The albums intro song is the lengthiest track on the album coming in at just under eight minutes and is strangely addictive. You may not like it the first time you hear it but you won't get it out of your head any time soon afterwards. Some of the standout tracks are: Weak And powerless, Blue, The Outsider, The Nurse who loved me (A melancholic cover of a song made famous by the band Failure) and "Pet". This album is a must for any fan of Tool as it displays Maynard James Keenans versatile vocal ability, I'd especially recomend the track "The Noose" as his delivery is stunning. If you are a MJK fan you will no doubt buy this for his voice but I guarantee you will sometimes forget he is singing at all because the music is... well: Perfect. The lyrics are beautiful, the guitars are crisp and clean, the bass and drums are intricate and captivating.
The only thing I don't like about this album is that it finishes. Following it was and still is near impossible.
If you like rock music, you need this in your collection. In my honest opinion it's more necessary than their debut and most of the records by the bands affiliated with them.
