Best chick flick ever?

This was one of the first films i ever bought... on VHS longer ago than i care to admit!
It is one of only 2 films (the other is A Perfect World with Clint Eastwood & Kevin Costner) that i bought back then that i HAD to have... & upgraded to DVD as soon as they became available.
I have watched it probably hundreds of times... i never get tired of it & it still brings a tear to me eye!
Considering that i'm actually a die-hard horror fan & usually find chick flicks vom inducing that means this is indeed a very, VERY special film.
Thelma (Geena Davis) & Louise (Susan Sarandon) are friends who set off, innocently enough, for a weekend of fishing & fun in a friends cabin out of town.
After stopping at a roadside bar the down-trodden, naive Thelma decides to 'let het hair down', has too much to drink & is attacked by the bar's resident lech. The more assertive, street-wise Louise comes to her friends aid - the results of which plunge the friends trip into chaos.
What follows demonstrates just how quickly our entire lives can be turned on their heads, how our response to our actions can have a ripple effect that goes far beyond what we can see & is a real testament to the power of friendship.
As the film progresses we are shown how each event changes the characters personalities, bringing out qualities that only such extreme circumstances could & in some instances a complete role reversal between who is the stronger of the 2.
With outstanding performances from Harvey Keitel, Michael Madsen (Louise's b/f), Christopher McDonald (Thelma's hubby) & Brad Pitt in his first major film role, fantastic direction by Ridley Scott, amazing cinematography - this is a film that just has to be seen by everyone, at least once.
This is essentially a road-movie for girls, with much of the dialogue taking place in Louise's '66 Thunderbird as they drive the roads of the Southern States trying to figure out what to do next - &, unknowingly, getting into deeper trouble every moment.
Thelma & Louise are 2 of the most sympathetic characters you will ever encounter in a film... &, unless you've had your heart removed, you WILL need a tissue for the finale.
Heartwarming, funny, pacy, poignant & tragic - i cannot recommend this film highly enough.
