The CD was well packaged and care had been taken over it, I love the Osmonds and had just seen their 50th Anniver. tour - listening to the CD takes me back to when I was 14 and mad in love with Donny - it bought a big smile to my face when the CD started with Crazy Horses - and it just got better. If your a fan of the Osmonds or Donny this CD is a must, all the favourites are there and the second CD has Donny / Marie and Jimmy's best - PERFECT CD AND WELL WORTH EVERY SINGLE PENNY.
Fab CD, takes me back !! Cant wait ti see their Tour in May ! xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
Good selection of all the Osmonds songs, really brings back memories !!
Anyone young at heart and remembers their youth, this is for you
Good value for money including DVD of some of the osmonds songs - Remember Little Jimmy Osmond - long haired lover that is there as well.
CD one has all the Osmonds songs and CD two has Donny/Marie/Jimmy osmonds songs which is good as they are not all mixed up on one cd i.e. if you just want to listen to the Osmonds all on one CD without flicking through to find songs
For the young at heart or the 70's child wannabe, this Osmond's album ticks all the boxes. Terrific performances by the Osmonds guys in tracks like Crazy Horses, and individual performances by Donny & Marie, and "little JImmy",
OK some of it is fairly cringeworthy stuff, but with a nice glass of wine, and no interuptions, close your eyes, and you can see and hear all the sights and sounds of 70's Osmondmania.
As a kid in 1973 I went to buy a single called 'Goin' home.' I had procured my school dinner money for the whole week and walked proudly into my record store unaware of who the artist was. I excitedly handed over my 65p and the salesman told me "Ah Yes. The Osmonds new single"!! He must have read my facial expression cos he hesitated just long enough for me to turn around and leave without it. Although I loved the song (and still do) as a spotty 13 year my aim in life was to have street cred and quedos. I just couldn't bring myself to actually own a song by the Osmonds. My roots lay in Santana, Yes, Led Zeppelin, the Beatles , etc. The Osmonds most definitely did not fit into that category. They were hated by my mates. They were all bubble gum and pop. Their image was squeaky clean. But even they were comparative bad boys compared to Donny. The sun really seemed to shine , etc, etc. But things got even worse when he teamed up with his sister Marie for a few completely forgettable MOR tunes.
Years later, I bit the bullet and bought the Ultimate collection on Ebay for about £2. I have at long last got over the street cred thing and my spots have given way to grey hair. I was delighted to listen to the Osmonds disc. 'Crazy Horses' the aforementioned 'Goin' home' and several more tracks are really good, Even the sublime pop of 'Let me in' is actually very good. Overall, I was most impressed. Sadly disc two containing the amalgam of Donny & Marie is so sickly sweet that I can't stand it. As a cheapskate move they have the audacity to put a re-recorded version of Jimmy Osmonds 'Long haired lover from liverpool' (a UK No. 1 at Xmas 72) at the end of the second disc. It beggars belief why record companies do this. I can only assume they consider us incapable of remembering the original.
Anyway, and despite my misgivings, my prejudices and slants, the Osmonds disc is quite refreshing, generally pleasing and memorable. Don't bother with disc 2.
If you want to relive your "care free" Teenage years, then this is the CD for the Job. What a wonderful trip down memory lane this CD is. Lovely Songs and I still remembered all the words !WOW
If you feel like a good sing- a-long, then grab your self a copy of The Ultimate Collection by the original Boy Band-------the Osmonds.
