A stylish British classic about an american actor playing the sidekick of a popular comic in a west end show (the comic is a pompous arrogant bore in real life) who falls in love with a nurse while being given an injection for near-terminal hay fever.
Brilliantly played by Jeff Goldblum, Emma Thompson and Rowan Atkinson, the film also features Madness performing their hit single "it must be love" along with one of the funniest sex scenes ever filmed and a cameo appearance by director Mel Smith as a little bonus.
Modern British comedy at it's best - far better than Bridget Jones' Dreary, 4 weddings and all that tat. Witty and intelligent with plenty of laugh-out-loud one-liners.
Bought this for a friend for Xmas as it is her favourite film. She loves to watch it over and over. Real feel good factor.Personally not watched it yet but no doubt we will soon be watching it at one of our get togethers.
I love this film. It has a great cast, headed up by Jeff Goldblum, the haplest Dexter. Emma Thompson is amazing as his mad, nurse girlfriend. Geraldine James plays a great cameo role too. Give it a go - if you like Four Weddings, Love Actually etc - you'll love this. Richard Curtis wrote it and Mel Smith directs. ENJOY!
