YOU MUST BUY THIS DVD..............the story lines are absoulutely brilliant, with brilliant acting.............you can watch these storys over and over again...............simply entertaining...................

I thought that with such a good cast that this would be enjoyable viewing but found it very depressing. I guess I am not quite modern enough to cope with it.

Wonderful series about ordinary folk up North living with the day to day pressures of life that take downward spirals, its good to see that other people can have a worse day than yourself and it makes you appreciate your own life that may not be so bad after all. Top casting, top acting and just such a good series to watch.

Brilliant, just what you would expect from such legendary actors and writer! - was gutted I missed it on TV, glad I could still watch it!

You can see why this won a BAFTA it is the best piece of TV drama i have seen in a long time!! It makes you laugh, it makes you think, it makes you cry...if you've never seen this series then go out and buy it because i can't rate it highly enough....it's certainly brightened up my evenings!!

I managed to see some of the Street series when it first came out but to all of them. I thought it was one of the best television series I had seen in a long time and the following one lived up to the same expectations. The characters are so real and diverse and as a result Jimmy McGovern manages to take on board all the relevant social issues in a very sympathetic but realistic manner. I would strongly recommend this to anyone who wants to watch a series that tackles the social issues of the day.

6 seperate stories of everyday people in one street, each with their own story to tell, behind closed curtains. Sex and scandals to a finale that leaves you on your seat.

I bought this from ebay to see how I would like it, I had caught a few of the series 2 episodes on TV and found them great viewing. Series 1 is well worth a watch, storylines realistic and a few really hit home.

One of the best recent TV series - moving, dramatic and brilliantly written by one of our greatest contemporary writers. Each story is self-contained, yet all the stories intertwine, each one having some impact on all the others. Each household is ordinary, yet has an extraordinary tale to tell. Some of our greatest actors and actresses star. And it's great to see a drama set in a real street filled with real people, as opposed to middle class sit-com land. Fantastic.

I watched most of them when they appeared on the TV.When I saw them up for sale I decided to buy the full set to see the ones that I had missed & very pleased that I did !! They are real life very compelling dramas.

AN EXCELLENT SERIES,EXCELLENT STORIES,FIRST CLASS BRITISH ACTORS. VERY ENJOYABLE! THE STORIES ARE VERY REAL AND TRUE TO LIFE AND IN SOME, CAN RELATE TO THEM. SOMETIMES I FIND MYSELF SAYING "I'M GLAD MY LIFE IS'NT THAT BAD" BECAUSE YOU COULD IMAGINE YOU'RE NEIGHBOUR IN THAT SITUATION. THE ACTORS PLAY BRILLIANT PARTS (AND MOSTLY ALL HOME GROWN ACTORS) WHICH SOMEHOW MAKES IT ALL THE MORE ENJOYABLE TO WATCH.

I cant write a review of this because i haven't seen it because the seller didn't dispatch it and ebay did nothing.

As a must see series in my opinion. with the BBC consigning the series to the archives, with the decision never to make any more, I felt that the opportunity to keep a dvd so that I can refresh my opinion of the series, too good to miss !
I would recommend that any fan of the series do the same, as you cannot guarentee repeats to be shown.

This was an absolute fantastic series from the BBC, I missed it on tv and my mum was always going on about how good it was so I bought it for £5 on ebay.
One of the best series ever made and definitely the best I have seen. Buy it you'll love it.

This superb BBC production of the excellent Jimmy McGovern's work about the lives of people who live in the same street is an absolute must for any dvd TV collection. If only for the bitter sweet episode starring Timothy Spall. The most powerful episode in my opinion however, (with an Absolutely Superb performance by Neil Dudgeon)is that of a schoolteacher wrongly accused of a mild sexual demeanour. It is stunning in all respects. You MUST buy this dvd!!

Excellent acting; excellent stories about down to earth residents of an ordinary northern street.

Bought it because we missed the first episode on TV and loved the rest.

I thought The Street was very original the way each episode led on to the following weeks characters. The topics were well portrayed by excellent actors and I found myself wanting to see the next gritty episode. Looking forward to a new series (if they make one).

BY THE STANDARDS OF WHAT IS ON THE TELEVISION CURRENTLY, IT IS VERY DIFFICULT IN A SANE WORLD TO FIND A SERIES WHICH ONE CAN RELATE TO. THIS DVD ENLIGHTENS TO HOW DIFFERENT PEOPLES LIFE STYLES EXIST, ALTHOUGH TRAGIC IN PARTS COMICAL IN SITUATIONS
AS THERE ARE AS TO DATE VERY FEW PROGRAMMES GENERALY WORTH TAKING THE TIME TO WATCH, I DECIDED THAT MY ONLY ALTERNATIVE WAS TO PURCHASE SOMETHING THAT HAS A STORY WITH MEANING , NOT THE USUAL UNBELIEVABLE WAFFLE THAT TELEVISION PROVIDES TODAY

I had missed this series on TV, but everyone was raving about it. So luckily it was for sale on e-bay and I was not dissappointed, I loved it. Every episode was gritty, well acted and well written, it was a shame it finished.
