This 3 disk special edition 10 year anniversary set includes commentary, interviews and other special features.

Released in 1994 it earned seven Oscar nominations in 1995 and was voted third best film ever made.

It continues to sell millions of copies worldwide, a truly timeless classic.
A must have!!

What a great film.It really shows up how corrupt it must have been within those four prison walls,with warders,wardens and prisoners all on the make and the take,and all turning a blind eye every now and then.
Although this is a relatively long film,well over two hours,it seems to fly by.Whilst by no means action packed all the way,it has its moments,and its strength is its plotline.I won't spoil a moment of it for you.Suffice to say you've got to stay right till the end to see if justice is done or not.
If you are going to buy this item,don't be tempted to go on the cheap and get the one disc version for a couple of quid - For around a fiver invest in the three disc version with tons of extras.If you're a dvd collector,you will appreciate the far superior packaging on this version also.
This film in summary is definitely a must have.Its not one you will watch again and again tons and tons of times,but every year or so it will be well worthy of your time.Thank you for reading this review !

I feel everyone should watch this movie, it has great meaning and is a very moving story, parts of the film I found a little upsetting but well worth seeing.

i bought this dvd again on ebay as my first one was sent with no dvd inside case and i have never recieved.this seller was honest.

This simply is one of the greatest films ever made, it is a work of genius! It is an acting masterclass, and it needs to be recognised as so.

Quite possibly the best film ever made. A true tale of hope & friendship which leaves you with a warm glow. This film as been in the top 5 on the internet data base for some years as one of the greatest films ever. With this ten year special edition you get all the goodies a film lover likes, the commentery from director frank darobont is superb, telling of all the characters -locations - inspired parts plus lots more. Disc two is hope springs eternal which is a great look back on the film, also on disc two is the redeeming feature which looks into why the film has such a vast army of fans despite its flop at the box office,and also lots of interviws from cast & genaral public.The charlie rose show is also worth a watch which is basicly a look back at the film after a decade. Disc three concentrates on all the charachters in interviews plus on location footage which is very interesting. This is without doubt my all time favorite film which i have seen over 500 times (yes 500 !)in the decade it has been out. Nobody should be without this terrific film in their collection.
