I purchased the original version so thst i could compare it with the new Nathan Lane version. In my opinion I much prefered the remake, I found it more dinamic. and the comedy sharper and much more to the point of the story. as the film was concerned with musical producers, I felt the added musical content both in keeping with the plot, and adding that extra something to na already good story.
Your review is not for this film here,it is for the remake, which is rubbish compared to the original with Gene Wilder.Link to the film you are talking about is here
Fantastically entertaining film of the hit musical stage show. Stays true to the musical although there are a few songs omitted in the film - however, The King of Broadway and In Old Bavaria are included in deleted scenes. Great performances from Nathan Lane & Matthew Broderick in the leading roles and Will Ferrell almost steals the show as Franz Liebkind. Uma Thurman is a very foxy Ulla. From the outtakes, it looks like all the actors had a ball making this film. Watch right until the end of the credits when Mel Brooks makes a surprise appearance!!
