Saw this concert years ago and loved it. Bought it recently on DVD and it is just as good as I remember it, even better. If you like The Police you will love this
For those Police fans who have the Atlanta Live! CD, then this is basically the DVD/Video to go with it. For me it has one massive omission - no Landlord - ARGHHHH!
Anyway that aside the soundtrack (especially the DTS one) has been pretty well done, no complaints there.
The concert footage itself was apparently overseen by Godley and Creme. Who knows what they were smoking at the time they made it. It's like the vision guy got a new electronic box of tricks and decided to use every new 'cool' effect he had on it.
The panning and zooming especially is quite frankly appalling at times, and the use of special effects in the case of Spirits in the Material World, makes it almost unwatchable.
On the plus side (sorta) there are a few multi-angle tracks - mostly biased towards Sting - 2 or even 3 angles of Sting at the same time in some cases :/.
Another downside to this is that they split out the multi-angle tracks into their own section of the DVD, which means that Synchronicity I is on the normal concert, but you have to go the multi-angle section to see Synchronicity II.
The case itself is a 'limited edition' slipcase - quite nice, and a replica mini concert programme inside.
If you're a Police fan you'll no doubt enjoy it, and the sound as I mentioned before is great, but the video coverage honestly stinks and spoils what could have been a great release - but there's no going back, and I guess they just have to work with the footage they had at the time. That being said there is some good footage of Andy Summers and Stewart Copeland in there, it just seems that the cameraman loved Sting a whole lot more than them.
