excellent film portraying the lives of fishermen in a small town who cope with the perils of terrible hurricanes and weather changes i like the film because it makes you realise that the fishermen risk there lives daily to catch fish to make a living ive watched this film on television and thought i wanted to buy this film myself.
fantastically told story of the battle to bring home the most fish, edge of the seat scenes brilliantly filmed watch it if you have the stomach for very choppy waters, sad but true ending of how many fishermen end there lives just to do the job
This is a fab film. Every time I watch this film I always seem to try. Lets just say my tisues are always sitting there ready for the end. I think knowing it is based on a true story and knowing this really does go on, makes the story feel so real. I really enjoyed the story line, didnt think I would the fact its about fishing. So much more to it. Highly recomend it
Great Film, abundance of good actors taking the lead roles. Story depicts the ferocity of nature. Fantastic story about the lives of men and their families in a town which survives on the fishing industry.
i wasn't too keen on watching this film, my boyfriend chose it. but, as it happens i loved it. i must point out, however, i did already know how it ended. had i not, i might not be raving about it now!!
worth a watch but not the best film ive ever seen - a bit slow - i liked The Score - Lock Stock - Derailed - 25 grams or films with edward norton and clive owen are usually well worth a watch
I brought this DVD to show my children the power of nature and the special effect certainly show off the power and destruction that the Perfect Storm delivered.
As to the film, the story is obviously true and therefore knowing the sad end for the crew will never change, especially for the crews loved ones waiting at home. It also shows the difficulty that fisherman go through on every trip to bring home the catch, rather them than me.
The characters pull off some pretty good performances bearing in mind it is a zone reality. However, there are no individually outstanding ones which I guess is fair when the film represents the demise of the whole crew, i.e. there were no winners only loosers in terms of family and loved ones left behind.
Bottom line, worth watching at least once from a reality and 'what it costs for some people' perspective to bring in a product/natural resource that we just take for granted when we eat at home, the local restaurant or the 'Fish and Chip Shop'.
I had read an article on the author of the book "The Perfect Storm" in a magazine which made me buy the novel (through E-Bay of course) - I enjoyed the novel and as soon as I had finished it wanted to see the film and so got the DVD at a good price on E-Bay. The film itself was very good and there were a large number of extras (documentaries on its making etc) which made the product very good value. A great true-life story which is well told both in the book and on film.
There aren't many films out there that really keep you gripped for the whole time, but this is certainly one of them. I would highly recommend watching this, and it is one of those films that can be watched over and over again without getting bored, so it is definitly worth buying rather than renting it.
The Perfect Storm is by far the greatest 'true' story I've seen - the special effects are amazing! George Clooney and Mark Walberg take on the main roles and the acting is Superb.
