  Zooniverse! The rise of Booshness
Review created: 23/04/08
by:

Julian Barret and Noel Fieldings transition of the award winning Mighy Boosh to screen proves to be every bit as off the wall and giggleworthy as the radio shows. The pair demostrate a mastery of leftfield comedy not seen since the anarchic days of the Monty Python team. Set in a delapidated Zoo they weave episodes around absurd story lines which are both bizzare and addictive. Aided and abetted by their trusty team and friends The Boosh pull of some side splitting observational comedy with mod style and jazz fusion finesse! Fans will be treated to the origins of some of their best loved characters and sketches which are further developed in the later series and live shows. On your feet or on your knees - the only ones to watch! and Don't forget the upcomming Boosh festival during 2008. TNR - Aril 2008

funniest thing ever to come from BBC 3
Review created: 20/03/08

Did you know that Gary Newman has also got a pilots license..lol...its amazing!!!

Come with us now to journey through time and space to the world of THE MIGHTY BOOSH!

Crazy, psychedelic and just bloody mad!
Some of the things that might just enter your head whilst viewing

Creators Noel Fielding and Julian Barrat are two talented actors that compose dance routines ,funky music and rib cage gags that make you split with laughter!

This is a crazt sitcom from the BBC that has a lot of MONTY PYTHON and LEAGUE OF GENTLEMAN elements....

If you like these typical situation comedies above then i think the next trip you have to take is to the BOOSH!

One liners, colorful episodes and comedy that has never been seen before!

Watch this , but don't be afraid its only a journey through time and space

TRY IT!!

  The mighty Boosh series 1
Review created: 14/02/08

Series 1 is far better than series 2 in my opinion. The gags are a lot better and the episodes are entertaining unlike the second series were i find myself laughing but finding the story a bit poor. If you had to pick one i would go first series. Saying this i still love them all.

Fans of surreal humour look no further, this is completely off the wall. The music is genius, each episode features at least one song (I love the tundra rap and the ape of death!). The animation and the outfits and characters are awesome. If you like this check out series 2 (I am the moon...!)

  Qulaity comedy
Review created: 05/04/07

The first series is not one to be missed. The Mighty boosh are a slightly surreal comedy double act, featuring Vince Noir (Noel Fielding) and Howard Moon (Julian Barratt), set in the 'zooniverse'. I was completely won over by seeing the series on TV but if you missed it, I would definitely suggest giving it a go, especially if you love comedians like Ross Noble or shows like Nighty Night. This series introduces legendary characters such as 'The Hitcher'(an evil cockney with a giant thumb), Rudi (a psycholdelic monk)and Mr Susan (the keeper of the mirror world)! The extras are also pretty good, with interviews with the cast, and some really entertaining comentaries on four of the episodes.
I would recommend this DVD to anyone who has a random sense of humour or just enjoys gawping at two very attractive men! Also check out the live show (which is unbelievably fanatstic), the second series (in which Noels hair is goregous!) and the radio show.

The modern day Terry and June meet Mr Benn...
Review created: 08/03/07

Magical, witty, surreal and inoffensive. Those of you fortunate enough not to suffer from insomnia would probably have missed the original screening of this on late night BBC3. I however DO, and was lucky to witness this gem firsthand. Effectively, this was based on the radio 4 series whigh was equally delightful, and apart from the 8 episodes, this also contains a microcosm of bonus material, which unlike other discs boasting bonus, is actually watchable and extremely funny stuff. Julian Barrett(Howard Moon) and Noel Fielding(Vince Noir) writing in combination definitely bring a hit of minty freshness to a somewhat dull time in televisual comedy as the zoo keepers at Zooniverse.

Come With Us Now On A Journey Through Time And Space!
Review created: 17/10/06
1 of 2 people found this review helpful.

The creation of Noel Fielding and Julian Barratt, The Mighty Boosh is as bizarre a comedy show as anything Monty Python could have come up with and then some. Set in a bizarre 'Zooniverse', our heroes Vince and Howard, are often called upon to travel to strange places and dimensions to resolve the latest crazy scheme of the zoo manager or it's demented benefactor.

With some excellent supporting characters such as Bob Fossil (the stand out Rich Fulcher), Dixon Bainbridge (the always excellent Matt Berry)and Naboo the shaman, The Mighty Boosh throws in animation, film references and musical numbers to create one of the best comedy shows of the last few years.

This dvd is presented in 16:9 Anamorphic widescreen and features Dolby Digital Stereo sound. Packed with extras, including a veitual tour of the zooniverse, out-takes, music, a gallery and commentaries on 4 of the episodes.

THE BOOSH ARE ON THE LOOSE...
Review created: 20/09/06

Come with us now on journey through time and space with Vince Noir (king of the mods), Howard Moon, (jazz maverick) Naboo (the enigma), Bollo (the familiar), Bob Fossil (head of the zooniverse) Mrs giddion (Howards true love and reptile keeper) and Dixon Bainbridge (man of action). This is a collection of amazing stories that happen at the zooniverse where they all work. Hip sexy and magical.

Well what can i say about my favourite comedy heros, except fantastic. This dvd set is just wonderful, charming, clever, surreal and very very funny, the more you watch vince and howard the more you will love them until they feel like part of your family. I can not reccomend this dvd highly enough with strange tales and fantastic songs you will enjoy it again and again.

Music and Comedy was never this good.
Review created: 05/08/06

This is one of the best comedy shows out their, Noel Fielding and Julian Barratt worked brilliantly on The Mighty Boosh and you can see for yourself. It's a wacky, cray off the wall style of comedy but with a great mix of witty comments. There's a brilliant element of music within every episode, all the music and dance sequences will have you rolling on the floor with laughter. I recommend this strongly!

I liked to buy this item cos its funny but am little unusal, which is just all me. But also that it gave me a reminder of my time at primary school. But from a few episodes I saw on tv I found nothing I didnt realy like about. I liked it so much I decided to buy, and ebay sounded like a ideal place to search. It was all realy good and simple, apart from when I never actually recieved the product. It was not ebays fault nothing to do with them, it was the seller to anyone, you got to be careful on some sellers. They will just rip you off and take your money, so again be careful. But to the end, the products good the Good, the arrangments to get the item was bad so there you go everyone, keep cool.

Post modern comedy with electro & jazz!
Review created: 18/01/06

The Mighty Boosh are Julian Barratt and Noel Fielding, and this series is their first foray into television. Previously Perrier Award winners for their Mighty Boosh stage show, these veterans of the Edinburgh Festival have practised their moves on the BBC Radio 4 crowd before being unleashed on BBC Three.

The show focuses on two zoo keepers: Howard Moon (Barratt) - a slightly unsure, self-deluded (supposedly) intelligent individual, Britain's leading Cream Poet and jazz multi-instrumentalist; and Vince Noir (Fielding) who, despite his stupidity and confusing face, seems to survive adventures and peril without ruining his hair do. He is king of the mods, mates with Gary Newman, was brought up by Brian Ferry (or possibly Terry Wogan), is obsessed with Mick Jagger and can talk to the animals (he's like Mowgli - the Retro version).

Howard and Vince work in the Zooniverse - a dilapidated zoo with a decreasing animal population and a brash, yet damaged manager, Bob Fossil (Rich Fulcher). Each episode sees them off on a different adventure, whether to the Arctic Tundra or to Monkey Hell (and back).

The series works on many levels, is wonderfully postmodern with characters talking directly to camera, silly songs and dances and completely bizarre situations. Unlike some of the more recent comedy offerings, this seems rather innocent in comparison, with no boundaries being broken, and no taboos being stomped on, having said that, it is an acquired taste. Its one of those programmes that you will either love, and become obsessed with (or is that just me?) or loathe. Endlessly quotable, you will notice new details each time you watch, (keep your eyes on the background,) and become more and more impatient for the second series to be released on DVD!

As for the DVD, menus are nicely animated, easy to use and stylistically in keeping with the show. The main downside is the lack of commentaries, with only 4 out of the 8 shows with commentary. As with all the good comedy commentaries though, they are amusing and informative, even when they do get a bit off-topic. The two featurettes are a big lengthy, yet informative throughout, and I found that I enjoyed the show in a different way the next time I watched it, having seen behind the scenes and the history of the comedy duo. The out-takes are average, but the photo gallery is amusing. At first, the option to view the music tracks as separate entities seemed like a space-filler to me, but having watched them, its a nice way to get a Boosh-dose if you've only a couple of minutes to spare!

If you like the recent offerings from BBC Three, or you think that you can cope with a touch of coherent surrealism, give this DVD a go, you can always dance along to the songs if you don't like anything else!

Never underestimate the world of the Mighty Boosh...
Review created: 28/10/05
by:

Absolutely off the wall, out of this world, nonsensical fantastical comedy that just seems custom-made to kick the traditional 'sit-com' off our prime-time viewing slots.
The wonderful world of the Mighty Boosh is focused round two zookeepers, the glam-rock, Gary Numan loving androgene Vince Noir, and the socially defunct, moustachioed misfit, Howard Moon.
Though every episode starts in the 'Zooniverse', it soon escalates outward to strange places and dimensions, including scenarios such as Monkey Hell, the arctic, and a boxing ring with a killer kangeroo.
Each episode has a song in it somewhere, and the songs are one of the best things about it; they are hilarious. The humour is completely unlike anything else around, and thee guys deserve trophies and awards galore for coming up with something so daringly original and hysterically funny.
Seriously. Buy it. It's worth it alone to see the zoo owner, Fossil, dancing to 10CC's 'Dreadlock Holiday', or to see the 'spirit of jazz' trying to 'get inside' Howard.
Absolutely ace, can't recommend it highly enough.
