  LOTR Two Towers

Probably the greatest sequel ever made. Picking up directly where The Fellowship of the ring left off. Bringing into the storyline more characters and in the case of the extended version expanding the storylines for the exsisting characters. A master piece of story telling, acting and special effects. Blending action packed battle scenes with touching compassionate scenes. Really is a ride you will not readily forget and leave you eager for the final installment Return of the King. Plus with the prequel The Hobbit now in the pipeline to complete one of the finest sagas put to film so far.

The Lord Of The Rings, The Two Towers, Extended Edition
Review created: 07/08/07

I've always been a fan of The Lord of The Rings and when the films came out I just had to make sure I got them. I had the theatrical versions but then decided to get the extended versions as well. I was suprised at the amount of extra time that the films been extended by and also at the all the extra material in the 3rd and 4th DVDs.

All in all it's well worth getting and all the extra information just adds to the magic. We just need Peter Jackson to make the The Hobbit.

A masterpiece that will be hard to top

The additional footage gives more depth to the movie which is well presented and is a great plus to the book lovers. You end up wanting more as you see the extra seens. The appendices continues to show the painstaking work that went into the making of this movie. The artistic backdrop is well shown and and the viewer feels an apppreciation to all involved. The viewer is pulled into every detail and dificulty that went into the making of this film and ends up feeling as part of the crew and bewildered at the brilliance of the work ivolved. Simply put a must see.

  Beautifully Made Epic
Review created: 25/02/07

Following straight on from The Fellowship Of The Ring comes this fantastic movie, which surpasses the first in every way.
As all three chapters were filmed at the same time, it retains a continuity lost in some sequels, and the new zealand locations again look perfect for the locations of Middle Earth.
I did enjoy the first film but found it slow in places, not so The Two Towers as there's enough action throughout to keep your attention. Also this film has moments of humour, a quality that seemed lacking from Fellowship. The rivalry between Gimli the dwarf and Legolas the elf, and the rantings of gollum bring welcome light relief to a rather grim world.
The main highlight of the movie is the battle at Helms Deep at the films climax, which is a most impressive mix of CGI and live action to create a truly believable large scale assault.
The Lord Of The Rings trilogy should be seen by everyone, and for those who fall in love with Tolkien's world, I would recomend these extended versions.

The Lord of Rings Two Towers

Ok, so, the 1st film was brilliant, so it was with some trepidation that I bought the DVD for the next installment. I unfortunately missed this at the cinema so I was buying blind so to speak. Again I should not have worried. This was just as good as the 1st. Peter Jackson shows his love for the books in his directing. Well worth buying to watch over and over again

The Lord of the Rings - The Two Towers
Review created: 30/01/07

Although the cinema version was an excellent film and well deserved of the oscars awarded to it, I still felt that the editting had lost some important parts of the story, present in the books. This extended version fills in some of the missing parts and in the commentaries explains the main reasons for the changes to the story. I am not sure the death of Saruman was a good idea and why Wormtongue did not throw down the Palantyr (using the y because no i accent ague exists on the english keyboard) at the victors of the Orthanc battle, as in the book, I can't understand. However these differences aside, the extended version is so much more satisfying than the cinema original for me. Well worth watching more than once.

  The Return of the King

This was such a good buy for the money. I think that the movie really comes alive as an extended version.I would never have been able to justify to myself the full retail price but the £5 I spent on this through Ebay really has given me a great deal of pleasure for the cost-it works out at about £1 per viewing hour, amazing value!!

The Battle for Middle Earth begins!
Review created: 03/09/06
by:

The Two Towers sees us pick up from where The Fellowship of the Ring left off - The Fellowship is broken - Gandalf was lost in Moria, The Uruk-Hai have slain Boromir and abducted Merry and Pippin, and are being pursued by Aragorn, Legolas and Gimli, and Frodo and Sam are making their way towards Mordor, to destroy The Ring.

On their travels, Merry and Pippin are rescued by an Ent (a tree-like creature) named Treebeard and subsequently get caught up in a battle for Isengard between the Ents and Saruman, the former head of the Order of Wizards. Aragorn, Legolas and Gimli are reunited with Gandalf, who survived his battle with the Balrog and is now Gandalf the White. Together the four of them ride to Edoras, and subsequently Helms Deep, to help defend Rohan against Saruman's orcs and Uruk-Hai. And Frodo and Sam find an unlikely guide to Mordor in teh shape of Gollum, the very creature from whom Bilbo Baggins acquired The One Ring in the first place.

Like The Fellowship of the Ring before it, The Two Towers has been masterfully captured by Director Peter Jackson. Being the Special Extended version it also introduces scenes previously unseen in the original production of teh film - many of which are small, but key points in the story.

The fiilm is split over 2 DVDs - which is a slight annoyance, and has another 2 DVDs packed with extras - a must for the Lord of the Rings fan!

  The Lord of the Rings

A very moving and thrilling storyline. Incorporating both love and destruction. Although Tolkien never admitted to drawing parallels with history, many of the themes in this film corralate to epic moments in history. The allusion the Sauraman is Hitler and that he seeks to destroy nature with creating a master race are very poignant. This i s a huge contrast to the moving love scenes between Aragorn and Arwen, as well as the heartfelt unrequited love which Eowyn feels for Aragorn.
This is a brilliant film and will appeal to anyone.
