This stylish and contemporary update of the 1969 Michael Caine classic sees mastermind Charlie Croker (Mark Wahlberg) and his team - inside man Steve (Edward Norton), computer genius Lyle (Seth Green), wheelman Handsome Rob (Jason Statham), explosives expert Left-Ear (Mos Def) and veteran safecracker John Bridger (Donald Sutherland) - pull off the perfect heist, stealing millions of dollars worth of gold bullion from a heavily guarded palazzo in Venice, Italy. What the team don't expect is that one of them will turn out to be a double-crosser and steal the gold from them. Now, with the help of safe cracker Stella Bridger (Charlize Theron), the job isn't about the payoff, it's about payback!

  The Italian Job
Review created: 10/03/08

Having purchased the old version of the Italian Job, I decided to purchase the new version and I was not disappointed. The new version is very gripping with a great car chase and incredible planning.
I really enjoyed it and I can guarantee an enjoyable experience.

..im not 100% on this, so please dont quote me on it BUT..its only real drawback is the lack of quote from the original film stating a similar phrase to my review title! however, im not sure that the remake would of got away with this with regards with both publication but also the feeling of hatred from hardcore purists of the original film..! anyway, on its own its an enjoyable family film with plenty of car action in it and an almost justifiable remake with the addition of the new minis. i think however, with the addition of the new minis a new story line would of fitted in perfectly, giving the film a more modern story line and maybe even a continuation of the original film, so it can at least not have to or try to be the original remake. i guess its kind of a shame as its just special effects and modern machinery such as helicopters and new cars which have been added to create this remake. still an enjoyable film, just a shame as the only major point holding it back is that the story line had to be copied from a previous producer and the lack of new ideas. still worth a watch so please still enjoy it just try and see what i mean!

  The Italian Job (2003)

A con artist/thief trying to steal from another? that is all you need to know, the film speaks for itself with its high addrenaline fueled plot, amazing camera effects, perfect performances, comedy, action, romance, and not to forget the 'mini scene'

Quite possibly, the silliest, lamest, stupidest film I have seen; that's two hours of my life I am never getting back.
