The Hamilton's is that rare type of horror movie that defies conventions and brings new ideas to the genre. It's a slick, low budget effort that feels like an episode of US drama Party of 5 with a psychotic twist. In the film a family have just moved into a new neighbourhood.
Orphaned, the older twins and sensitive younger boy are in the charge of the eldest brother, who is now their guardian. They seem like a normal family hit by a terrible event from which they are trying to recover in order to build a new life. But the problem with the Hamiliton's is that they life the kidnap young women and leave them hanging in the basement... Are they a family of psychos? The older brother likes to cruise for gay rough trade that he can murder in cold blood while the incestuous twins seduce and kill gullible women. Only the younger brother resists the urge to murder, befriending one of their captives and going through turmoil as his guilt eats him alive. And just what is the creature they keep locked up in a cage in the cellar?
This movie keeps the twists coming and deals in some pretty twisted violence though it keeps much of the sexual violence off screen while giving the audience queasy hints of just what they are missing. By cleverly mixing domestic drama, camcorder footage shot by the artistic brother and outrageous violence and gore, the filmmakers have created a bold and original horror movie with a quirky script and doses of OTT melodrama. How many more secrets are the Hamilton's hiding?
Weird, took a while to get into, almost 3/4 of the film had gone by before I got into it. Quite a good ending which was quite shocking. A good cast of actors. Well worth a watch for any horror fan.
this film is utter shite, i am telling you, the preview makes it look good, you dont actually see any gore and, do you know what its not even worth typing about, DONT BUY IT..!
good twist on the horror genre, low budget but enjoyed. excellent take, seemily normal family move in to the suburbs. but are they all they seem.shocks instore
The Hamiltons is a very very sick film, lots of blood and guts, a few nice ladies in distress that are wearing very little and there is a twist at the end. Its a lot better than Hostel 1&2 but not quite on par with the Saw Movies, the reason being The Hamiltons was shot on a tiny budget compared to Saw an Hostel which you can accept. All in all, this is a great film and i would recommend it to anyyone, but not if you dont like blood.
