Who says you can't turn back time? Its like regressing 30yrs LOL it brings back memories of that awkward time when I was discovering things like girls,(1st love, and all the grief that goes with it). Finding out where you fit in the big wide world, and fighting for your place in the pecking order of the "peer system". . . . . . . . Oh happy days! ! ! !
GREAT ALBUM FAB FAB FAB FAB FAB FAB FAB FAB FAB FAB AFB FAB FAB FAB FAB FAB.......................................................................................................
The Boomtown rats settle into the more commercial appeal here following 77's self titled album, and 78's 'Tonic for the troops'. 'Surfacing' is peppered with hit records & instantly likeable songs, & quite rightly justifies the greatness of both Geldof the writer and the band as musicians themselves. The single'Someones lookin at ya' kicks the album off, and it's plain sailing from then on untill the epic 'when the night comes' finale. Some anguishing topics covered in-between(Don't like Mondays),and some great bouncy thoughtful sing-a-longs(having my picture taken). Ok, Geldof can get a bit deep at times, but inteligence and music CAN meet in harmony, especially when the the listener gets the impression the band are enjoying themselves, RIGHT ! Sadly this was where the story ended as far as quality album output went, but it's place in classic rock was well earned and should be part of any serious liisteners collection. The remastered cd has some nice bonus live material included. Buy it.
