Fantomas - The Director's Cut (CD 2001)

I foolishly lent this to a mate about 3 years ago, after getting bored of asking for it back I decided to buy it off ebay, and it makes me wonder how I survived without it, what an incredible album, I cant think of another band that uses heaviness so intelligently, its not metal for the sake of the culture or fashion, the noise is used for dynamic purposes, at times the mix of melodic sounds and intense thunderous noise is breathtaking, four musicians brought together for the purest of reasons, to make a specific sound, it is so focused, so alive, forget about old farts who are making music because they have become a franchise, this isnt about the money, this is art at its best, and its a covers album which makes it the exception of every rule.
