The Day After Tomorrow (DVD 2004)

i loved this film. i bought it for my mums xmas a year ago.
the film really helps you understand the concepts of global warming and the effect it may have on our planet whilst being a great blockbuster at the same time.
the film tells the story of a man studying the effects of global warming, when unexpectidly one weekend, his theories become true. due to the effect global warming has on the climate and weather and mainly in this film, the north atlantic drift, most of the usa europe and many other nothern countries are hit by extreme weather conditions causing a new ice age. unfortunately for him, his son in in nyc stuck in the library where if he were to go outside, he would freeze to death.
this is a great film whether you just like great special effects, blockbuster or you want to know more about the possible causes of global warming. however,n.b, a new ice age is only one of a few main theories of the effects of global warming but the reasons for this happening are well presented in the film.

I decided to buy this item, because i was given a detailed description of item and instead of missing a few white lies told me exactly the truth. I got a great price for the item and the item was posted the very next day after auction had finished. I recommend this ebayer to anyone. 5 Star ebayer

I saw a few trailers before I actually watched the whole film, wasn`t disappointed. It makes you think that if we don`t start looking after our planet this sort of thing could happen to us. The film is full of action and keeps you on the edge of your seat wondering what is going to happen next. The so called Special Features are poor because they do not show any details on the making of the film which is one thing I like to see. A must for sci-fi fans.

brilliant film great effects and well worth watching, i have watched it about 4 times now and i still think its great, was excellent value as well, by buying of ebay and not in the shops,

excellent teaching tool to compliment work on global warming. i decided to buy it to help students understand the effects that global warming can have on the planet earth. excellent dramatic effects, although some a bit as my students said "as if!"

This is one of those true-to-life films, showing what could actually happen, if man continues to abuse this planet. We must try not to let it happen. Very real, everyone should see this.

An action thriller that has a fast paced non-stop backbone with an important if not frightening environmental message all the way through.
Utterly superb movie.

Scary film if this is what could happen to us lol - a good action film, and Dennis Quaide is great in it.

Brilliant special effects are blighted by bland characters in The Day After Tomorrow, a join-the-dots disaster movie from Independence Day director Roland Emmerich. The gist is this: a new ice age is coming and only weather whiz Jack Hall (Dennis Quaid) has twigged it. But soon enough, everyone knows: Los Angeles is blown away by a superstorm, New York troubled by a tidal wave, and even the government is forced to admit that, well, it is getting a bit chilly. The carnage makes for great eye candy. It's just a shame there's no one to care about.

Quaid goes through the motions, saddled with the stereotype of Obsessed Professional, while Jake Gyllenhaal does what he can as his teenage child, stuck in the ice-packed Big Apple. But neither actor looks very convinced, perhaps aware of how absurd their story is (the world is freezing to death and Quaid decides to go for a stroll after his son).

"IN TERMS OF SPECTACLE, TOMORROW DELIVERS"

This wouldn't matter so much if the script wasn't so po-faced and the supporting characters so forgettable. Virtually no one has a personality. There are a couple of good gags (two librarians argue over the merits of Nietzsche when deciding which books to burn to stay alive), but there are none of the gritty subplots which powered the likes of The Towering Inferno or The Poseidon Adventure (both bloated pictures, to be sure, but enlivened by camp and wit).

Of course all of these gripes are so much blah-de-blah if you really love disaster movies. Because in terms of spectacle, Tomorrow delivers. When tornadoes rip through the City Of Angels and the Statue Of Liberty becomes an ice queen, the effects are as convincing as computers have yet got. There are enough jaw-to-floor moments to merit a goggle. Just not enough soul to be worth a rewatch.

i love this film as it has so much action goin on in the film.so the whole family could watch it+ would enjoy a great film.x

My son has been looking for this for a long time and as a last resort thought we would look on ebay, to his excitement it was there for 99p, fantastic buy, we had to wait for about a 1 week to receive it, but very happy with the purchase

Hubby saw this film on television, but we either missed the beginning or the end, due to forgetting to set the VDU or people turning up. So had to buy it for him.

This film is really exciting, sitting on the end of your seat kinda film. It showed the trauma of things, which could happen, the stupidity of people in authority, a fathers love for his son, and his son and friends fight for survival, against all odds.

I bought this item as it is my husbands favourite film and we lost our copy.My husband was thrilled to bits with it and thoroughly enjoyed watching it again.

WOW, if you like your natural disaster movies, then i suggest you watch this one.

The film is about a super storm that wipes out nearly all lifeform on the earths northern hemisphere, which starts out as a few crazy tornados and eventually causing a huge climate shift bringing on a new ice age, and within all this crazy weather we see a father and son battle the forces of mother nature and overcome her and to be re-united after a slightly distant relationship caused by the father and his time consuming job.

This film also brings awareness to the ever increacing climate situation, although a bit far fetched and wont happen in our lifetime, it could be possible.

The special effects and believability was amazing everything did seem so lifelike, as you would expect from the people who made 'independence day'.

The roles played by Dennis Quaid, Ian Holm and Jake Gyllenhaal i thought were done very well, they all made thier characters believable and familiar, you could truly feel thier emotions when everything went up the preverbial creek without a paddle, which made a sort of connection or bond with the audiance.

So, in conclusion if fast-paced, mind-blowing special effects filled, natural disaster movies with that little bit of a heart-warming story line sounds like your cup of tea, then this would be a film you would enjoy, i know i thoroghly enjoyed it and would watch again.

a great film with good cast - liked the theme of climate change as seems relevant to present day situation - usual hero type rescue situation but lots of action & interaction between the characters - well worth watching

Look people, what it comes down to is this: you don't go to an "end of the world" movie for the plot. You go for the special effects. And I can honestly say these are some of the best special effects I've ever seen in my life.

I work a lot with computer graphics, and can distinguish them (AND miniatures) by sight. This movie blends them seamlessly. The only other movie I've seen that does that is Lord of the Rings. If you want to see a movie that makes you believe that what's happening is real, watch this. If all you care about is plot, there are better choices.

I give this movie a 9 based on exactly what I expected of it. Mindboggling visuals.
