Over the years bands have come and gone...some good...some bad...nothing unusual in that...but XTC have been around since the late 70's producing album after album of true quality, but for some reason they have never had the success that they fully deserve...and that is unusual!!
A good friend of mine got me 'into' XTC with their early work and i have been a big fan ever since! The song writing skills of Andy Partridge and Colin Moulding are first rate...ranging from true gems of pop songs...such as "Senses Working Overtime", "Sgt Rock" to more deep meaningfull songs such as "No Thugs in Our House", "Dear God", "Runaways"...this is truly a band who are at the hight of their craft and fully in tune with the ever changing musical ebb and flo.
The Big Express is a very impressive piece of music with songs such as "All You Pretty Girls" which is a witty and enjoyable piece of HMS Pinafore-esque music and this theme is kept going through the alblum with other tracks such as "Seagulls Screaming Kiss her, Kiss her" and other prominant themes such as trains also keeps this album fresh and inventive.
XTC are a seam of gold waiting to be discovered...once you've heard one album...you'll be keen to dig for more!
