The Best of Van Morrison is a fantastic cd. It's a real sing along, turn the volume up album. It's a great cd to put on in the car, it gets everyone singing. It really lifts your mood.
not really a greatest hits but a really fine collection of his work i play this in the car constantly hughly recommended even if you have most of the albums 10/10
This is far from the best of VM Who makes these selections? I dislike most of them. Of particular dislike the proseletising religious and old cover versions are particularly disappointing and how I'm supposed to get to 100 characters being as negative as this I don't know. Volume 3 best of is brilliant compared to vol 2.
I re-bought this album after my original had long ago been borrowed/loaned out/lost/un-returned by the many folk who heard it on in the background to my life and had to further investigate Van the Man! If you have ever heard a Van Morrison on the radio or as in my case - in the background of someones life - then listento this album to get the background story on Irelands equivalent to Bob Dylan! When the tune gets you - listen to the lyrics and hear all that is evocative in a love song sung by a man who has felt pain and pleasure. This is a voice that was never going to be at home in a boy band - nor does he have the body for it to be fair! But if you want to listen to the singer and the song - this is a nice entry into the many coloured world of Van Morrison. To be listened to when you are sad. Or happy. Sober or drunk. Alone or in company - if you are wise enough to have survived thus far in life - there is something in here that you will relate to and adopt as the story of your life! For me it has to be "Brown Eyed Girl" - I'll leave you with that thought!
I had have I told you lately that I love you, played at my wedding. so I loved my purchase. The seller was above average. as it was my first purchase from e-bay I was over the moon
One of the greatest talents to the length of time. Have most of his stuff on vynl which are stored away so now trying to get them all on cd's for everyday use at a reasonable price.
This is an excellent compilation which I chose as it contains all of my favourite Van Morrison tracks. "Have I Told You Lately" is one of my favourite songs by any artist, I love the deep quality of Morrison's voice and the musical arrangement. I can listen to this song over and over and it never fails to move me. I also like "Bright Side Of The Road" and "Brown Eyed Girl". I find them very uplifting. There are also some early songs from the period when Morrison was with Them, which reminds us what a long career he has deservedly had in the music industry. I also like his version of "Jackie Wilson said (I'm in Heaven When you Smile)" which I do prefer to the more well known version by Dexys Midnight Runners. I would recommend this CD to anyone looking for a compilation, it has become one of the most played CDs in my collection.
If you like some of Van's work but not all of it and have therefore put off buying any of his CD's then this is the one for you. A good mixture of songs from his long career and plenty of them- you won't be disappointed. At e-bay prices an absolute bargain.
This is a quintessential piece of rock history that will move you to the extreme. The album combiknes the best of his work with the culmination being 'Have I told you lately that I love you'. A real masterpiece and a must for any collection.
