Black Sabbath - The Best Of Black Sabbath (CD 2000)

I bought this double album originally 5 or 6 years ago and it was never out of my cd player! Unfortunately it was stolen along with a few others out of my car so when i saw this copy at a good price on ebay, i had to have it! It really is an excellent showcase of Black Sabbath's work over the years, and while it features mainly songs with vocalist Ozzy Osbourne there are a few tracks from the Ronnie James Dio era too. I think more of his tracks with the band can be found on The Best of..Vol 2.
It would be very difficult to pick my favourite track, obviously there are the old classics paranoid etc and even an old cover song Evil Woman from when the band used to play blues clubs in Birmingham, but really i couldnt mention one that i strongly dislike. Sabbath Bloody Sabbath on the second cd really does it for me the most but thats my taste and there is a track on here to suit most people who enjoy rock/metal not just die hard sabbath fans. Black Sabbath are often dismissed as 'occult' or 'satanic' but very few of their songs deal with anything truly satanic and certainly the band did not (to the best of my knowledge) routinely incorporate rituals or animal sacrifices into their shows like some of their contemporaries!
With 32 tracks spanning some 20 years this is an excellent album and i highly recommend it.

A must for the heavy metal fan, CD contains plenty of numbers which were not widely played on radio (radio caroline) and unless you were a fan of Sabbath its more than likely you would never had heard before. Puts todays heavy rock bands in there place
