I first heard about Thrice from a fellow rocker of mine and they could not stop singing their praises. They advised me to buy The Artist In The Ambulance as they felt it was the best representation of the band's work. "Cold Cash and Colder Hearts" is the opening song on the album. At first I was kind of put off it due the screaming making me jump at the start and causing me to quickly skip to another track, but after a few times of revisiting it, it has become one of my favourite songs on the album. I would say the songs are quite dramatic due to the nature of the lyrics, the simple-yet-loud backing and the pretty fast paced drum beat throughout. Problem is though, the album seems to follow this pattern all the way through, making it sometimes hard to distinguish when one song has ended and another has began. Songs I would recommend listening to would be "Cold Cash and Colder Hearts", "Under a Killing Moon" and "The Artist In The Ambulance". Overall, I would say make sure you are a pretty good fan of Thrice in order to properly enjoy this album. If you don't know them or their music that well [like me], you'll find yourself listening to certain songs and never listening to others, because listening to it all the way through, from start to finish, may get quite annoying.
