I bought this card from thomann in 2003 for my little brother in an effort to divert him from excessive cannabis use and into music production. The card is very high quality and the box is also very useful. Sadly he did not screw the pci card into the slot and one day when i wanted to remove or insert something into the card the pci card came loose while the pc was on & from then on its been nothing but trouble. The computer wil say the card is not installed or driver is missing for it. I am gutted as they are now out of production :( Lets have some more please Terratec (Hint maybe the 6fire MK II)
I have have been using my DMX6Fire card to record audio for several years and it has not ever let me down. At the present I am using WINXP but I have the Terratec beta XP and Vista drivers (551c) which were released a few months ago. This has again been no problem for me. My latency is excellent 3-5ms with no stutters and I am recording with Sonar 5 and SoundForge 9. I cannot fault the card. As the previous review stated it is possible to record way above CD quality so the card will be a important part of my studio for some time yet. Good luck and have fun with it.
Note: I use this card for music making only. I have no idea of the card's abilities with games etc.

This card got reviewed very highly when it came out, and remained in Computer Music's recommended list for a very long time. It has very mature drivers that can deliver super-low latency and superb accuracy. It is rock solid in in operation - once you have tweaked it out it there are no glitches atall. The sound is neutral/warm with no nasty edges anywhere. The front box makes it very convenient to use for midi connection, for singers and guitarists, and it is very stylish when fitted on your computer.
The card is out of production now, so should we think in terms of buying a new, currently available card? I say "no". The reason is that this is a 24/96 card and that means it operates at a standard that is of higher quality than CD. That means that when you come to put your tunes on CD, you actually lose quality! To me this makes buying a newer card of an even higher spec utterly redundant. You will pay between £60 and £75 for this card on ebay. You will not find this quality, or anything like it for that kind of price new.
Go for this card. It is a peice of tough German tech and it will not let you down.
