Strangers in the night is an album I have listened too since it's original release in 1979!. Quite simply, one of the best live albums aver released and what's just as astounding is the quality of production and recording quality. UFO are just one of those bands that wrote great riffs and accompanied them with melodies and unforgettable hooks and choruses. However, they where a live band! and everything they recorded sounded bigger and better live. I generally believe this is the case with many rock bands of that time.
"Strangers" contains every great UFO track. Check especially the instantly catchy "Only you can rock me" and "doctor doctor" but pay equal attention to the likes of "Love to love and "Mother Mary" There isn't a duff track on the album and will keep you engage from start to finish.
I do, however, recommend that you purchase the orgiginal "Strangers" as opposed to the later issue which starts with Cherry etc. it's of course just as special but loses some of the initial freenzy that follows the anouncers imortal words "would you please welcome from England....U....F....O!!!
From the golden age of "Double Live Albums", namely the 70`s. This has to be included in the top five live albums of all time. I know U.F.O. have recently regrouped and are touring again but this album although recorded nearly 30 years ago is a brilliant example of of their work, and definately worth checking out. Every track an absolute gem. I saw U.F.O. live just after "obsession" had been released, so this live album captures that moment superbly. An underrated album from an equally underrated class British rock band.
JUST BRILLIANT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Having seen UFO live again after 30 or so years at stormin the castle motorcycle rally i decieded to search ebay for some of their material.I found their strangers in the night cd and bought it as it had most of the tracks on i had enjoyed live amd i was not disapointed, it is fantastic.
I bought this CD because I have this on vinyl and love the album so much that I wanted to be able to play it in my car. Travelling to and from work seems to be the only time I have to listen to music and as the radio is generally rubbish (Virgin excepted)I have started to replace only albums with CD'S.
