A top collection of songs from a great band. The sound quality is very good and if you are after 1 CD of Talking Heads material, I would recommend this one.
Back in 1984 I took a young lady I went out with once or twice to see David Byrne's film 'Stop Making Sense' and it was an interesting experience. I loved it. She hated it. I was Right. She was wrong. Where is she now? Who cares! As far as I'm concerned the film in general, and Byrne's 'Big Suit' in particular, prove just how talented that man is. It was a truly innovative performance.
Like the earlier CD release this is not Quite the soundtrack of the film but it does include many of the songs from the brilliant film [and six more than the 1993 CD] and most of them have been digitally remastered to give a crisper, cleaner sound.
There is an interesting version of 'Physco Killer' [from 'Talking Heads: 77'], not the best version but very interesting nonetheless.
This particular version of 'Burning Down The house' [from 'Speaking In Tongues'] is certainly worth hearing.
I quite liked this version of 'Girlfriend Is Better', not bad, not bad at all.
I have always been fond of 'Life During Wartime' [from 'Fear Of Music'] and this version is pretty much as good as it gets.
I have to say it is really nice to see they have included the 'Tom Tom Club' track 'Genius of Love' this time around. Martina Weymouth, Mmmm...
If you want to own 'Stop Making Sense' buy the DVD. However, if you don't want the DVD or simply have to have it on CD make sure you get THIS version NOT the 1993 version which only includes nine tracks because some of them are decidedly dodgy!
