From the innovative album cover, right through the track listing, it is a seminal work. At a time when the Beatles were disintegrating, the Stones, between 1968 - 1971, produced the finest collection of rock music of any era, culminating in 'Sticky Fingers', a fusion of lyrical pop/rock, and their blues & r'n'b roots. Although they are still the most in demand band in the world, this album was probably the peak of their powers.
Probably their best work. It does of course contain the massive, all time party favourite, 'Brown Sugar' but the album is far more cohesive that just a bunch of songs hanging on to the glitter from that one track. It's an immensely listenable album. Raw, passionate, and compelling. If you're reading this review it can only be because you haven't heard the album. I could go on - trust me - you won't be disappointed............... Unless, that is, your musical tastes lie in the remit of James Last or Dame Kiri Takanawa.
