i had been after this dvd for some time and couldn't find it so i was delighted when i came across it on e bay, i put my bid in and waited nervously not expecting to win as i know its so popular when i discovered i had won it i jumped around the room in delight! i am a big horror film fan and am trying to build up my collection as i had the majority of them on video but no longer have the player to watch them on. although the film is long its so informative and gives you a real insight into how they felt growing up with IT and how easily you forget as you grow up, one of steven king's greatest films, excellent
Great movie, perfect condition. So happy to eventually have it on dvd for my region at long last. Every thing was exactly as i remember it from so many years ago but alot better quality than the vhs version i used to watch.
An interesting movie from King about facing one's fears and how to deal with them... wrapped in the form of a story surrounding a group of adults who have to return to the scene of the childhood to deal with supernatural forces.
The plot basically follows the exploits of 7 kids – 6 boys and 1 girl who call themselves the ‘losers club’. Each one of them is somewhat of a nerdy outcast in their school and this is basically what has brought them together as friends. Not only that, but they are also aware of the strange events taking place in their town, as each one of them has experienced grisly hallucination at the hands of a sadistic clown known only as Pennywise (Tim Curry). While the gang kept their visions a secret from one another for some length of time, they eventually come to realize that they have all been going through the same thing. Each of them has had visions. Living nightmares that work against the individual child’s most primal of fears.
it's great coz it's got a clown init!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
It was my friend that wonted the DVD because she had brought a copy from a shop in town and she sat down to watch it and half way through it just stopped. So she then brought this one and it stopped in the same place so she then thought to turn the disk over and try that it then started to work.but the dvd was really good and there is no bad comments to make on this dvd. so thank you
The movie is well thought out. Builds steadily and keeps your attention. Tim Curry, as "IT" is excellent in the role. The only let down is the ending. "IT" as a spider - can't figure out why?
I was not happy with my purchase because half the film was missing. I watched this film yrs ago so knew it was a long film & knew what 2 expect but it only played 90 mins instead of 180.
it was good the film played good arrived on time xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
I had to buy this dvd because it had been about tens years since i had last seen it. As a kid growning up i used to love horrors and would always rent them(well, my parents would, i wasn't even a teenager). But of all the horrors this film was pretty much the only one which scared me and kept me awake in the dark of night.
I grew up on Michael Myers, Freddy Kruger but loved never feared them. As for pennywise the clown there was something different about him, maybe the fact that he was a clown, it's bewildering as i don't even fear clowns.
As i watched this film for the first time in about a decade it brought the memories back but i have to say it seemed quite cheesy in many parts and made me wonder while it scared me stiff all those years ago. It's over 180 mins long as it recounts the background of the clown and the main characters involved known as 'The Losers', it takes some concentration.
I have never read the book though having read that it's far more gruesome than the film i bought it and hope it really does put it to shame. I was very impressed by the performance of Tim Curry as pennywise. Ten years on i'm fascinated to foind out who the cast members are and found a few who are well known today, such as Curry, the late John Ritter and comedy actor Seth green.
To be honest the film has it's moments but it isn't a classic but show it to any kid and it will probably be the scariest film they watch. As an adult it seemed to drag on and sort of lost the plot at the end and i feel deserved a btter finish.
All being said it was great for me personally as it wa sa trip down memory lane.
IT is a brilliant 3hour film about something evil in Maine, America. It shows how 7 children meet up and become The Losers Club. They defeat the evil but it returns when they are all successful adults. They then defeat it as adults. Unfortunately this copy of the film is only half of it. It stops after the adults are informed the evil is back, before they re-unite in Maine to kill it. I wouldn't have bought the DVD if I'd known this. I had it on video and it was the full film so I assumed this would be too. I was bitterly disappointed. No offence to the seller of course, I should have asked, but then again I had no reason to!! Sorry to sound negative - just trying to prevent others making the same mistake. The film though is excellent. Time Rice as Pennywise is something else.
What i like about this film is the fact it focuses on children's dreams and what they are afraid of as children. Let's face it not many of us like clowns do we? I'm terrified of them, always have been which is what makes this film so real and scary to me. Pennywise is a real dark nightmare, the whole film throughout, drifts in and out of dreams and real life and after a while you get to doubt yourself as to whether your watching the real thing or a nightmare through the children. Even once as adults the nightmare stays with the characters. You get to know them adn like them. What i don't like about it is the ending, without giving too much away, to me it seemed rushed and a slight let down. I brought this film after reading the book twice and having watched it on the TV a few times i decided it was a film worth owning. A Stephen King classic. After watching this film if you don't start looking over your shoulder on noticing balloons floating away on there own i'll be darn surprised!! A film surely you would not be disappointed with?
I bought it because I had read the book. It would have probably been a good rating for the dvd if I hadn'd read the book first. I would recommend: See film first and the read book, the story, but especially the book is excellent.
what i love about this dvd was i never actually saw the film IT before but always wanted to see it and it was at a really low price so i thought why not bid on it then i won it at £2.50.
You will not be visiting a circus ever again once you've seen this truly fantastic performance by Tim Curry of Pennywise the child mutilating clown! This horror film offered pretty much everything you could want, except gore, but that's understandable considering the budget for IT. It offers a good plot and storyline and is not shallow like most modern day horror films, it has possibly one of the most iconic horror characters in existence that somehow manages to combine humour with a rather terrifying performance, among various other things that make IT a movie to buy and watch. Be warned though, this is a 3+ hour film, so you get your moneys worth...
MY all time favourite film, its a film i never get fed up with watching. I brought because i wanted a copy of the film of my own instead of keep borrowing my Dads copy. HIGHLY RECCOMEND WATCHING IF YOU LIKE SCARY FILMS
This was my fourth time bidding on this dvd after being outbid 3 previous times. I am so pleased i finally got it as it is so difficult to get hold of. I am currently trying to get all stephen king films on dvd as i only have them on video at the moment. 'IT' is one of the best stephen king films and i have seen most of them and i can't wait to watch it again.
small town group of youngsters are terrorized by a malignant force that kills. Some thirty years later, they learn of another string of child murders back in their home town, and this time team up to fight back. Based on the novel by Stephen King.
Actors: Harry Anderson, Dennis Christopher, Tim Curry, Olivia Hussey, Richard Masur
I had the video of this and needed to upgrade to the dvd. I love Stephen King and i think this is one of his best films. ebay is a fantastic site to get hold of discontinued things instead of trailing through the shops on the high street. If ebay hasn't got it, it probably doesn't exist!!
this film is a stephen king classic! the first time i watched it, the story line kept holding me until the end. Each character is described in depth, which makes you feel like you know them . Its quite a long film, so everything gets explained really well.(no getting to the end of the film, and wondering what on earth happened!?!) Brilliant film- all i can say is "THEY ALL FLOAT DOWN HERE!)
