Not what I expected at all, in fact I think we where all so excited about seeing it ,and how we had heard how fantastic it was, that in the end it just didn't have enough to give, no real climax, pretty dull in places.

undoubtly ,as a star wars fan, i bought this dvd without question. i would be lying, and a rubbish fan, if i said it wasnt a good film.
this film has to be the best out of episode 1, 2 and 3, but theres no point in even comparing it to the original trilogy, they are so different in many ways and yet still really good, i can only compare to the previous 2 films.
throught this film the special effects are better than ive ever seen them, the first 5 minutes blew me away and i was almost fallin off my seat as i felt i was flying through space. this is true all throught this film. also the directions cant be critisised thanks to the legendary George Lucas.
the storyline is perfectly clear perhaps thanks to the fact that i know where it left off and where it was going to finish but this doesnt keep out any surprises in this film shown mainly by the great battle scenes.
this film is for most of the family, i wouldnt agree with its rating of "12" but i would give it a PG as younger children may be scared by the fictional lifeforms and battle scenes.
And ,of course, a must for all fans!

My 7 year old son loves Star Wars and wanted the first episodes. I did tell him that these weren't the first ones, 4, 5 and 6 were, but he just looked at me as though I was daft :) The films have linked into the original stories really well and to my son the story is seamless. May the force be with you :)

  surprised.,
Review created: 06/06/08

i loved star wars as a kid. i grew disenchanted with the new trilogy. i was prepared for another letdown.

i was surprised to see that things really come together. 'sith' has a coherent story, well told, well paced. the movie is full of fireworks, but they always support the progression of the story, nothing felt unnecessary like some stuff in the earlier episodes. the characters were all solid. some were even great. there were quiet, slow paced moments that made sense, felt right. the transformation of the characters came across well. the conflicts are complex, personalities are multifaceted. this movie carries a lot more weight than episodes 1 and 2.

not everyone will be happy. there are weak moments, there is wooden dialog, there's cheesy romance. nevertheless, for most of the audience, even non hard-core star wars believers, this movie works. it's great entertainment, and it ties in very well with episodes 4-6. the sense of disconnect that people felt with episodes 1 and 2 is gone. you will want to go home and watch 'a new hope' right after seeing 'revenge of the sith'.

Star Wars III : The Revenge Of The Sith
Review created: 18/05/08
by:

Arguably, this is the best of the three 'prequels' to the original Star Wars that started it all. The action carries you along relentlessly adding to the climax that gives the answers to the beginning - Star Wars Episode IV. Star Wars I and II mixed action with long periods of slow dialogue, a bit too much silliness with the characters and periods of admittedly lovely CGI scenes that the effect was generally to slow the films down and lose the momentum that Episodes IV, V and VI were known for. Episode III rectifies that and makes the journey worthwhile, gradually putting the pieces of the jigsaw together to make the whole series satisfying in the end. If you could only have two Star Wars films, I'd make it III and IV. If, like me, you had all the other five but not this then get it; the Star Wars saga isn't complete without it.

A very good ending to the 'new' trilogy, explaining how the cute little boy we see in the first film turns into the evil Darth Vader. The special effects are stunning even if they are the mainstay of the film, as in the two previous films. I particularly like the fight between Obi Wan and General Grevious. All in all a very enjoyable film.

  Or...Star Wars: Now You're Talking
Review created: 04/04/08
by:

I know many believe that there's nothing that can beat the Original Star Wars Trilogy but they're sadly wrong. Episode III takes the viewer on the defining journey of George Lucas's "Space Opera" that [finally] shows how Darth Vader was born. All the time one shares the pain and winces at the various atrocities Vader perpetrates, now in league with Darth Sidious/Emperor Palpatine, psychologically it's possible to beam inside, because deep down we all know it turns our ok in the very, very end.

Among the highlights are a long-awaited face off between the premier baddy in Palpatine and the supremo goody Yoda, which could only ever end in stalemate but is worth the entrance fee for novelty value. We also see the introduction of the Wookiees, including a young Chewbacca - later of course to participate in the ultimate defeat of the Empire by the Rebel Alliance.

There is a slightly dodgy introduction in the shape of General Grievous, a CGI-borne cyborg baddy who would have stood well as a creation in its own right but - for reasons best probably left well alone - the inclusion of 4 (yes four) lightsabers in the character's repertoire is a bit much in the context of the whole.

Lucas just about 'gets away' with Grievous but the film's one major flaw occurs when Palpatine is at last revealed as the mystery Sith the Jedi have for so long not discovered right under their noses. Four Jedi are despatched to arrest Palpatine and the viewer is treated to the among the very shortest 'innings' in terms of lightsaber-wielding ever witnessed. One can almost hear the behind-the-scenes rousting by Mace Windu of three Jedi to accompany him - "no, not you...you there, you look useless, come with me to arrest possibly the greatest threat to democracy in the galaxy..." - it works in my mind...

Nevertheless, the end duel between Obi-Wan and Darth Vader - next to which the Episode IV Kenobi/Vader duel looks decidedly stairlift-ridden - is superbly choreographed and well set against the ominous backdrop of the volcano planet that provides the final justification for the famous black get-up for Darth Vader, not - as might be expected - 'because black is *in* this season'.

Well worth the wait, though one could argue that the final-final-final scenes that close the circle and take Yoda, Obi-Wan, Luke and Leia on their final journeys in preparation for the Original Trilogy are in fact somewhat rushed.

Who cares? It's Star Wars! :-)

Star Wars - Episode 3 - Revenge Of The Sith
Review created: 29/03/08

As the plot thickens on the third episode of the first trilogy the film makes you want to watch the second trilogy immediately. These films have a clasp on your imagination which are expertly developed by George Lucas. Simply great films with superb cast, production and locations making magical classic films which never seem to lose there appeal to me.

Must-see film classic; shame about the extras
Review created: 02/03/08
by:

Having converted most of my old video collection to DVD I was thrilled to find this film gem in digital format. If you watch this in widescreen format, it really does the battle scene great justice; coupled with surround sound, you'll be gripped by the amazing cinematography. I would recommend the director's cut that includes scenes about the relationship between the lead character and his estranged wife and helps you to understand the motivation behind his decision. The run time is 183 minutes for the directors cut and 120 minutes for the cinema version. I was, however, disappointed by the lack of extras, which any fan of this classic would expect to be included. There's only a 20-minute interview with the director and other shot "making-of" vignettes.

It’s a great film an all but if you ask me it relies far too much on its fantastic storyline incredible visual effects and brilliant acting! Even the droids have personalities better than most that we see on every day TV!

It’s a must go and buy it, keep it and don’t lend it out type of a film.
In deed it will keep us going until they realise that knights of the old republic (Light and Dark side versions) will work very well on the silver screen!
Animated or not!

STAR WARS - REVENGE OF THE SITH
DVD - GEORGE LUCAS.

STAR WARS REVENGE OF THE SITH IS THE FINAL CHAPTER IN THE NEWER STAR WARS TRILOGY OR CONFUSINGLY THE OLDER TRILOGY (HOWEVER YOU LOOK AT IT?)
NOW,LETS ALL BE HONEST THIS IS NO NEW HOPE,EMPIRE OR JEDI.
HOWEVER THE FAST PACE OF THE MOVIE,EXCELLANT SPECIAL EFFECTS AND BRILLIANT ACTOR PERFORMANCES GREATLY MAKES UP FOR THIS!
OBI-WAN KENOBI IS BACK WITH ANAKIN IN TOW TO TRY AND FLUSH OUT 'THE PHANTOM MENACE' (CHANCELLOR PALPATINE-AKA-SITH LORD DARTH SIDIOUS)
THE CLONE WARS WAGE ON IN THIS CLIMATIC SEQUEL AS ANAKIN IS TORN BETWEEN HIS DUTIES AS A JEDI THE TEMPTATION OF THE DARK SIDE AND HIS NEW WIFE PADME.
ALL RESULTING IN SOME OF THE BEST LIGHTSABER DUELS SINCE LUKE AND VADER IN EMPIRE AND JEDI.CULMULATING IN THE ULTIMATE SHOW DOWN BETWEEN MASTER AND APPRENTICE OBI-WAN AND ANAKIN,LEADING TO THE RISE OF THE MOST POWERFUL SITH LORD OF ALL DARTH VADER.
AS A STAR WARS FAN, MOSTLY THE ORIGINAL TRILOGY (NOT THE THE SPECIAL EDITIONS) I THINK THIS IS A FITTING END TO THE STAR WARS SAGA.
IT PROUDLY SITS IN MY STAR WARS COLLECTION AND IT WOULD LOOK GOOD IN YOURS TO.
KEEP THE FORCE ALIVE FOR 30 MORE YEARS WITH THIS WONDERFUL STAR WARS MOVIE.

Episode III Revenge of the Sith.
Review created: 01/02/08

Where do you start with positives and negatives ? The effects are tremendous but do resemble a computer game world. The re-inclusion of Chewbacca is great and you get a further insight into the Jedi council members. The plot starts with 25 mins of pure action but then gets baggy in the middle as did Episode I AND II. Personally I find some of Anakin's actions when turning to the darkside are a little too extreme. The scene with the Jedi youngling asking Anakin for advice and hearing Anakin's lightsaber blast open to kill the kids went too far I thought. It's not mean't to be a horror movie surely !
Good to see Yoda in action again and the battle with Palpatine is excellent as is Obi wan and Anakin's battle. It's also good to see the blockade runner ship from epIV - a new hope again. Another annoyance is what happened to the young orphaned Boba Fett ? Would have been nice to know where he took refuge. In all I think it's good but most people agree ;
'George we would have done it slightly differently' !!!

A must for all Star Wars fans. To be fair you can not compare it to the orginal trillogy but it is by far the best of the prequels. Answered all of the questions the Star Wars fans had about how and why Luke's father Anakin become Vader!
The story line is excellent, as you would expect from George Lucas. The battle scenes brilliant and the effects as ever out of this world.

The Birth of the Empire ... the Circle is Complete !!!!
Review created: 05/09/07
3 of 4 people found this review helpful.

The movie that ended the journey that for many Star Wars fans began in 1977 ... Revenge Of The Sith is quite simply the most dramatic and the most darkest chapter in the entire Star Wars saga !!!

Palpatine's rise to power continues, the Clone War becomes more intense and for Jedi Knight Anakin Skywalker the future is clouded.

From the breathtaking opening space battle until the final scenes of death, birth and hope, Revenge Of The Sith constantly delivers !!! The chilling Order 66 sequence marks the point of no return as a hero turns to the Darkside and an Empire is born ...

Quite simply, Revenge Of The Sith is the Star Wars film the fans were waiting for ...... Episode 1 failed to deliver, Episode 2 raised the standard but it is Episode 3 that fully unleashed the full Power of the Darkside of the Force !

What a great end to the Prequel trilogy.

Anakin kills a bunch of Jedi kids and turns to the Dark side - I hope I haven't given too much of the story away!

The lightsabre duels are amazing and General Grevious is just brilliant, as for the opening Space battle above Coruscant - have your surroungd sound turned up for a mind blowing experience.
