It was'nt for me, it was for my grandson for his birthday. He was very pleased..............................................................................................................................................................................................................................................
I was a little disappointed when I first got this. As a big chili's fan I was very keen to get it but it didn't quite deliver in the sense that nothing really jumped out at you upon the first 2-3 listens. However, as I continued to have it playing in the back ground while I worked it really did start to grow on me and I felt I had perhaps judged it a little too harsely. I find it much more mellow then their earlier albums, but that isn't a bad thing. Well worth having, as all of their albums are!
I absolutely love this album and haven't stopped listening to it since i bought it. It's a double album, Jupiter and Mars. Jupiter is defintiely my favourite and has was on continuous playback in my car when i first got it and I keep going back to listen to it on a regular basis. Mars is more easy listening and slower but still great. Each disc has 14 tracks. I've always been a RHCP fan but this album by far outweights Californication and By The Way, their previous 2 albums. Buy it or regret it!!!
I love this album, there is nothing I can find that I dislike it. It is my 1st RHCP album. I bought it as I loved the 1st Single and I have read Scar Tissue Anthony Kiedis autobiography. I felt after reading the book of the lead singer I knew more of what the band was like. The songs are beautiful and not as loud as I expected. I kind of thought they just shouted like the foo fighters do to me but they songs are great and the sound is great and you find you sing along with out even knowing the song title. It really does need to be heard all the way through because at first i kept listening to the tracks i loved "Hard To Concentrate" is the one I love but listening through and learning the titles you find other great songs. I have since bought other RHCP albums and this is as funky as they others but totally different as well. Just last week I saw them in a Stadium Gig. This was the 2nd Stadium gig I had seen 1st been Michael Jackson at Wembley back in 1997! I would have prefered an arena gig as Rock shows have a different atmosphere and Michael Jackson Sings pop and is a Showman. Anthony,John, Flee and Chad rocked but with a rock show in the Stadium it was more alive when i got dark where as at an Arena you are closer in and part of the excitement is the lights going down. In the Stadium with good seat we were miles away. This album shows how tight the guys friendship in and hard work and dedication to keep going and keeping old sounds alive and giving birth to new sounds.
This album was long expected by many if not all chilis fans and alot of people probably got a bit bored of waitin but we were rewarded for our paticence and givien a thrilling 2 disc album with a host of great songs on both. The band trys out lots of new styles on songs and also revisits old. I have also now seen the band live as of 3/7/06 and it was truly great with them playing a select few songs from this album and a few of the old songs. So i strongly suggest you buy this album if you are a chilis fan or even just a music fan
I would love to know what this album is like but i don't. The reason being for this is because the person i bought it from has never sent it to me! I have now ordered this CD from an online music site as i love the Chili's and am going to see them in a couple of weeks. As for the person i bought the CD off of from ebay i have quite a few choice words for them and they must be desperate for a couple of quid, how sad!
This is a must own album, although some of the hard core "pepers fans" will be a bit peeved, since it is a world of difference from their other albums.
John Frusciante is a lot tighter on this album, letting his guitar sing right through the songs with a mildly but prominent blues edge and sweet solo's that dont overpower the song.
Althogether the album needs to be listened to right the way through, listening to individual tracks, will make you loose out on the whole concept (same as X&Y)
All in all its a great album, the guitar work is simply amazing, some of the more catchy songs may loose intrest over time, it may not, Dani California is very good, it doesn't dominate as "the best song" because they are all good.
