This Fourteen track album is the latest in the Metallica collection and i felt that i should take it for such a decent price. Upon arrival I was pleasantly surprised by the foldout style of the casing and cover which seemed unique compared to other recent albums. After the initial look on the style of the album another factor i noticed was the booklet which was slipped into the album case which consisted of song lyrics and designs inside the booklet which i found good quality. Lastly i would like to point out the dvd which came with the album. This dvd contained live performance from Metallica at there recording studio in Los Angeles. This I found fairly good but wasnt of best quality and was slightly basic and plain. On overall i found the album a good buy with many good features included.
Metallica fail miserably with this album. droning bass heavy guitar riffs no melody, a poor album, considering all the publicity surrounding this release, (think some kind of monster). i know it's supposed to be heavy hard and dark but any idiot can chuck out this kind of banal rubbish. Master of muppets would have been a better title. Don't think metallica will ever again touch the brilliance of the black album
I bought the Metallica - St Anger album as a replacement for an original I lost. Metallica in many people's eyes lost their way ever so slightly during the late 90's, a view I don't express. Its every bands right to experiment with their sound, their direction and their musical styling. St Anger though brought Metallica back on form. I love this album and the track "Some Kind of Monster" sums up what Metallica are all about. A heavier than heavy riff and a rocking tune.
As with any review, this is an opinion. I know many people who hate this album and everything Metallica have produced since the "Black" album and even "Master of Puppets". But I'd reccommend it to anyone.
Hav'nt bought a Metallica cd since the Black album (Metallica Metallica true title). But this album rocks. Used to be huge fan when I was younger but seen them for first time at Download 06 and they blew my socks off. Was inspired to buy their latest offering and so glad I did. I reckon this album is their best since Master Of Puppets, Its raw and loud a must for any fan. It also comes with a bonus DVD of them in a practice room playing the whole album with the new bass player and I reckon it sounds better than the cd. Buy it now!
