Metallica - St. Anger (Explicit Version/+DVD) [Digipak] (CD 2003)

I bought this album because I was hooked on a couple of the songs, after watching the "Some Kind Of Monster" movie documentary. I love all of the songs, barring "All Within My Hands" which was a little too long for me. I've heard a lot of people put this album down because it doesn't sound professional, but they mustn't understand that that's the whole point! It's supposed to sound like a garage band. Frantic kicks the whole thing off and has great vocal harmonies and a lot of power, followed by St. Anger which continues the power, although it is about 7 minutes it doesn't drag on at all. The same goes for Some Kind Of Monster which rules. I was a little surprised with "Invisible Kid" as, I first heard it and said "Oh, it's out of tune and everything!!" but it didn't matter, it was stuck in my head all of the next day.

All in all, a great album despite all the bad reviews.

Metallica is one of the best my bands. Ive got all albums but st anger disapointed me. DVD is not bad but album... Maybe next one will be better I hope..

as always the boy,s give it to ya as it is, straight from the heart raw and fast, steeley and sharp as true warriors of rock should do,this album is best listened to whilst sitting around king arthurs round table, or stone henge or the local chapter house with the lads on the choppers , so as you share the ballards,and the ballsy ,gritty lirics,you can supp your grog and smoke your fancy and pretend your the crimson idol long live mettallica .

depanding on what your looking from metallica this album may or may not be the best album. if your looking for a more fast snare drum type songs this certainly is your album. There arebt any guitar solos as such but there certainly is a lot of amazing drumming going on. Particualar tracks which stick out are frantic shoot me again some kind of monster and St anger. The album seems to loose standard on some songs like invisible kid and my world. Another good song on it is sweet amber seen as it works really well. one of the best metallica albums ever made personaly however i think S&M or garage inc maybe the better albums to pick up if you dont have any metallica albums.

Metallica have been a band for 25+ years so to last that long is impressive, and St Angwe is just that, impressive. The songs are great and heavy (not as heavy as the Ride The Lightning times but still heavy)The sound of Kirk Hammett (lead guitar) and James Hetfield (vocals+ guitar) put together and then a loud drum kit played in the background (Lars Ulrich) make for one hell of a headbangin' album. My favorite songs on St Anger include:

Infact all by two are great but there is one problem with them all ; they run on too long (average of 6 minutes and more) but excluding that I recommend it.

Metallica...One of the best classic hard rock bands of all time, listen to the black CD, the majority of which are classics.
Sadly this CD fails to live up to expectations (although my 19 yo Daughter loves it!) I bought it after watching "some kind of Monster a dvd worth watching about the making of the St Anger CD.
Dont spend a fortune on it but worth the money for artwork and bonus DVD plus there are a couple of good tracks on it as well!

critics would slate this album purely because it isn't the same as any of metallicas other albums, i think this is an appaling way of rating an album. st anger ws an experimental and diverse album, you can understand that the band members may have wanted to try something new after so many years but the backlash from fans and critics was disgusting. it is a very good album, songs like frantic and the unamed feeling are very interesting to listen to whilst others just make you want to jump around. the artwork in this digipack is amazing and this album comes with a dvd to enjoy also =) very good item, i loved it!

Now, one of the most truly awful albums in history is accompanied by a master class in gurning. This is incredibly funny but for all the wrong reasons. I found myself being embarrassed and I was watching it alone.
