Spider is a film about a man who has been released from a Mental institution, and in an attempt of rehabilitation goes to live in a half way house. This film is fantastic, based on a book, and we enter the world of Spider. He consistantly mumbles to himself. We see how others react to him, and how he reacts to them. The house where he is staying, happens to be where he grew up, and so we follow what happens to Spider as he uncovers the troubles from his childhood.
Ralph Fiennes plays Spider and he is excellant.
This is an outstanding film, and provides insight into the taboo, of Mental illness. Often when somebody is suffering with a mental illness, people who are ignorant about it, often bully, or are afraid of the person. I really think that there should be more films like this one, so that people can have a chance to understand such topics as Mental Illness.
Often Mental illness is portrayed in horrid hospital environments, and set in the past where there were less forms of treatment. More films should focus on the here and now.
This film is outstanding with talented well known actors/actresses, and I recommend it to anyone.
