Great sounding for size and portable

Pros: Good sound for size and price range; plenty of features like Intellitext, Textscan, kitchen and sleep timers; excellent reception; USB firmware upgradeable; nice styling (though of course this is subjective!)
Cons; Aerial is huge (though probably why it's got great reception); Few connectors, you can't connect an extra speaker, only connectors are power, USB, and headphone sockets; can't set any wake up alarms; some may not like having to press the 'stations' button before selecting stations.
For it's price, this is a very good sounding DAB radio, a nice fairly warm sound with a little bit of bass. On first turning the radio on it will autoscan for stations, and I was surprised with how many it picked up. Other DAB radios I've got/had get in the region of 40-50 stations, this managed to pick up 60! I live in Lichfield, Staffordshire and if I place the radio upstairs it can pick up Leicester stations, and in the right place and at the right angle even Coventry stations (just!) The only caveat is that the aerial is huge, but can be put at almost any angle, but make sure you have space for it when fully extended! I have found though that with strong local stations I don't even need to have the aerial fully extended.
It also has a range of useful features like Intellitext (Picks up news, info etc. from compatible stations like Virgin and TalkSPORT), and TextSCAN (you can pause/forward/rewind the scrolling DAB text). You can even set kitchen timers and sleep timers, however you can't set wake-up alarms or for the radio to come on at a set time, which is a bit of a shame. Another useful feature is the ability to upgrade the firmware via the MiniUSB port, ideal for any bug fixes, extra features etc. You only get 3 connectors though - power, headphones and MiniUSB port, no option to add an extra speaker, connect to your hi-fi (not sure if you can do this via the headphone socket?) or connect your MP3/MD etc. Having to press the 'stations' button before using the scroll/select wheel can be a bit of a bind to some, I have found sometimes I'm adjusting the volume as I'd forgotten I needed to press this!
Overall, a very good DAB radio from a good name, would be an ideal first DAB radio, or a complement to an existing one. This one of mine can be transported from room to room easily, getting a great signal wherever you are in the house, pretty good sound and available quite cheaply. There may be cheaper DAB radios from other manufacturers out there, but you'll be disappointed in some way - either poor signal, poor sound, poor build quality or if you're really unlucky all of them! Spend a bit more and get one of these, you won't be disappointed!
