I wrote a long review on this submitted it and the page would not go through and all the text was lost. I am not keen, therefore, to repeat the exercise!

  Sony quality shines through

I've been looking for a minature DAB radio to take with me to football and have looked at many on the market at the moment. Personally I have always been a fan of Sony products but looking at the Sony XDR-M1 FM/DAB Radio on the Sony web site it retails for over £100 a fair bit over my budget. But I spotted this one here on ebay, ex-disply model but BNIB, I was supprised at the quality of the sound it has when in DAB mode, reception is excellent it picked up all the available stations on the first tuning. Although it is essential you extend the headphones fully for best reception, one down side is I have found the FM reception is not as good as I expected but overall I feel that Sony quality shine through in the feel, look and easy of operation 9/10

  Sony XDR-M1 FM/DAB Radio

I had owned one of these radios before and the sound quality is great, easy to use and small enough to fit into a shirt pocket. The first one I owned, the jog wheel button froze and I couldn't change stations or switch from DAB to FM.
I never got the original headphone with either radio so I don't know if the quality is any better( I listen through Sennheiser PX100)and mainly listen to talk radio as I prefer listening to music on my Mp3 player.ifI have any complaints about this product it would be the poor battery life in DAB mode. It's about 5 hours continuous listening even with high capacity rechargeable batteries. Also reception on the move can be patchy and you can lose it all together on buses and in some large buildings. when the first radio developed a fault I considered swithing to a different make, but when this one became available on Ebay, I though I give it another go if the price was right.overall I'm very please I stuck with the Sony and will mtry to find a pair of original headphones and for a large DAB radio for my home.

GREAT RADIO ON THE MOVE AS LONG AS YOU HAVE THE ARIEL (HEADPHONES) FULLY EXTENDED. I DECIDED TO MOVE TO DIGITAL BECAUSE I WAS MISSING TOO MUCH OF THE COMMENTARIES ON THE FOOTBALL. THIS LITTLE BEAUTY IS THE ANSWER.

For the past 2 years I have been trying to buy a 2nd radio as above. I set a target price of £25. Two weeks ago my patience was rewarded I was successful in buying the identical model for £18 The radio is in perfect condition considering the 1st model was over £90 which I collected from some 25 miles away I am thrilled to bits with the excellent value.

  Sony XDR-M1 FM/DAB Radio

I bought this for my husband's birthday, because he loves listening to sport on the radio & there are even more channels on DAB. As it's portable he can take it to work when the cricket's on.

I bought this one because it looks pretty sleek & as it's a Sony you know it will be good.

Set up was simple and it is a really good quality sound, which was a worry as some of these portable DABS have bad write-ups for reception. Also, despite concerns about buying a radio requiring batteries, the battery life is fine.

The only bad thing is that my husband is apt to walk around the house a lot with the headphones on, shouting loudly at me.

Would definitely recommend this product

One of the easiest ways to get a referral is to do a favour for a friend and ask them to sign up in return. That way, you both can get a free ps3 xbox 360 or wii

Basic rules
Don't break these rules! This is the only reason that you won't get your free iPhone, so make sure you follow these rules!

- One account per household - don't use a public computer to sign up!
- Use real information - this is a proven legitimate site and they will not give out your information.
- Only complete each offer once! You cannot complete the same offer again, even for different freebies.

  Sony DAB
Review created: 26/03/08

I buy Sony products, I have lots of them, but this item is not that good. It struggles to get reception, and I do have other DAB's which recieve fine. I can only say this is average, not the usall excellence you get with Sony.

Very good radio, though batt life could be better
Review created: 23/12/07

Pros: Nice styling; good sound quality; supplied as standard with wired remote; takes AA batteries

Cons: Battery life stated only 9 hours, bit less in real life; signal strength not brilliant; expensive; no charging circuit despite being supplied with an AC adapter.

A nice, portable personal DAB radio from a good name. It's a bit pricey but it's a nice little unit. It has a large and easily-readable screen, with a backlight button for when it's a bit too dark to see the screen. The supplied headphones are OK, but I use a pair of Sennheiser PX100s with it and the sound quality is excellent. The unit also comes with a wired remote as standard which is useful when out and about and the DAB is in your pocket, it also has a handy little clip for attaching to your clothes. And quite usefully it comes with an AC adapter too, though if you put rechargeable batteries in it (even Sony ones) you can't charge them via the adapter.

The XDR-M1 gets it's signal from the headphone/remote wires, which does away with the need for a big extendable aerial but the signal isn't quite as good using this method. However, attach a set of 'phones with a longer wire and it does help the signal a bit, though you're left with rather a lot of excess wire dangling all over the place! The battery life, even with high-cap rechargeables is a bit disappointing, the manual states 9 hours though in real life this is likely to be a bit less, so make sure you have a spare set of batteries if you're out and about for a while. Another little annoyance is that you can't turn off the 'beep' when you press a button, which can get a little annoying but this is only a minor gripe.

Overall, I can recommend this portable DAB radio, despite the battery/charging flaws, and the signal issue is pretty common amongst this type of DAB radio. The sound quality is very good, as is the build quality and design of the unit.

  "Walkman" style DAB/FM radio
Review created: 09/12/07
by:
1 of 1 people found this review helpful.

I like the quality of sound very much especially for classical music. Initially I found it a bit tricky to set up but once done it's fine! I do not like the loose earphones supplied so use a high quality headset. Another problem I find is the very long lead that acts as an aerial but assume it is necessary! The one real improvement I would make is to peovide it with a belt pouch to store it in.

I brought it as I work alone in an often noisy environment. With good quality headphones, I can really enjoy listening to my favoutite stations (mostly Classic FM).

Overall, I can say I am very pleased with my purchase.

  Its quite good...
Review created: 08/12/07
1 of 1 people found this review helpful.

like....
Its black! Looks quite cool...
The display is clear and has plenty of space for info transmitted
Fairly easy to use

Don't like...
A little bit big (but not too bad)
A bit hit and miss on some channels in certain areas
It seems to need tuning in every time it is switched on
Not any where near as many channels available as there should be (but that is probably to do with the digital signal is still not as strong as it should be by now?)
Battery life a bit poor, but not as bad as some models

Bought it to play in the car so was easy just to use a cheap multi-adapter to plug into the cigarette lighter socket, works well!

  cool dab radio?? maybe so??!!

nothing against the seller, but the radio i bought isn't up to sony standards, very very average, and it isn't all sony's fault either. Basically if you want on the move digital radio, forget about it, the signal strength is so poor, you are better off with a good fm radio.. for at least half the price. So i don't really know why sony made this, its heavy on batteries, bad signal, doesn't really fulfil it's design remit... all in all, not the best... but if you want the coolest looking dab radio and you cant move... buy it

Bought it as a present for my husbands' birthday . Impressed on how small and compact it is - just right for putting in one's pocket which is ideal as he's a fisherman .
I was drawn to buy it as it seemed like a very good deal . lack of posh packaging wasn't a problem as I was able to wrap it in my own style .
It was well recieved .

My view of the Sony DAB
Review created: 23/07/07(updated 23/07/07)
by:
1 of 2 people found this review helpful.

When it comes to portable radios, my huge disappointment is the variation of signal quality and long lasting battery ability. This Sony DAB provides brilliant channel logging to save your favourite channels, and if your out and about, you can still listen to great variety of stations without much of the despairing signal.

nice radio, pity it doesn't work in my area

My previous personal radio finally gave up the ghost and so I thought I would treat myself to a Sony DAB personal radio. I have a mains powered DAB radio which works perfectly well in my area, but the Sony will only receive FM. I am a bit disappointed with my purchase. The upside to this review is that the Sony personal radio delivers much better FM reception than the now defunct Roberts ever did. I should have done more research.
