I have about 7 years experience working with sony products, as with the majority of sony tube tvs, this is a very solid piece of kit - built like a tank !.
picture quality is great (arguably better than some of the flat panels around today) but it downside is its bulk and weight.
A great alternative to a flat panel tv for those die hard CRT lovers out there.

Super high picture quality far exceeding the clarity of LCD TV's in displaying standard definition broadcasts. 100hz image scanning and noise correction makes a huge difference compared to normal CRT's and provides a rock solid and clear image. Menu systems are simple and easy to navigate. Sound is well balanced, as the TV has its own built in front and centre speakers. It also has stereo RCA outputs to connect to full surround system. TV has a full range of scart, composite and s-video inputs, whose operations can be customised through the menu system. Very clever auto adjusting aspect ratio insures pictures are the right dimensions as you change channels and inputs. Features also include picture in picture, so you can watch one channel while flicking through the others to see when your next program starts. You can also continue normal viewing while you fellow viewer gets the latest info on ceefax.

Only slight negative is that this TV weighs 90kg so requires two strong men to lift, however the stand is substantial and once the TV is mounted it can be wheeled around easily.

I got this TV second-hand on ebay for £113.99 and it looks brand new, as you would expect from Sony build quality. These TV’s were top of the range just a few years ago and commanded prices in excess of £1500. These televisions are far better quality than any sub £1000 LCD, so if you can find one of these great Sony monsters you’ll get a bargain.

This TV has fabulous picture quality, and surround sound effects, both of which are in my view the best available on CRT TV, and at 90+ kg is highly unlikely to get stolen. The only thing I don't like about it is that it should have been in the corner of my lounge 4 years ago, I could not afford this TV when it was new (approx £2000 4 years ago)and have just purchased it on ebay for £225.00 and I am delighted with it. Also with this CRT TV there is none of that infuriating 'delay' when watching soccer etc. that you can get with some LCD or Plasma sets, and yes, I know these are improving. But pound for pound I think I have purchased a real 'belter'. Good on you SONY.

Sony's DRC100 (100hz) and DRC50 (4x resolution) modes make Standard definition look the best of any CRT flat screen TV, despite the relatively large 36" display. Features Image rotation, picture in picture, RGB horizontal shifting/scaling, smart picture resizing, SRS and Dolby surround, 3xSCART (1xRGB compatible), 2xcomposite and some S-video connections too.

Connection for connection, this TV compares well against my parents 37" Toshiba HD LCD when DRC50 is used.

If your not to fussed over HD media (it is still limited and costly) and you don't need to save space then this is good option. Pick one up for just over £100 and you've got a bargain. One word of caution....this TV weighs in at a hefty 90kg (14st 2pounds if I'm correct) so some glass TV-stands may struggle, although there are some out there that can take the weight.
