I bought this 50 inch television last year due to a lot of discussions in the shop. I have a child who enjoys playing his Playstation games and as usual he always pauses the screen to do other things. I also made enquiries about a Plasma television and they informed me that if my son plays on this type of TV and pauses it for more that 5 mins it can cause screen burn. This can inject a permanent image of what was paused onto the screen. We have also been on the Sony website and found out the replacement bulbs are £170 ( this inc VAT ) I have nothing but pure TV enjoyment with this probuct.

Let's face it you need to have a large TV nowadays. The only 2 questions are how big and how much? If you do any research those questions will quickly bring you down to a choice of technologies mainly projection, LCD or Plasma. I take the view that all good quality TV's in any of these 3 formats will give you a very decent picture. This sony is no exception. I have another 37 inch plasma in my home but on the big match day this 50 inch Sony Projection wins my attention. It takes no more space than the same size plasma when set in a corner and does cost half the price of the plasma. It is HD ready, the WII & PS2 pictures are just like the plasma and this model has freeview in built. In this model all the previous concerns with distortion in a projection TV are resolved. If I could afford it would I buy a plasma or LCD of the same size? Yes. But do I think I have lost out by settling for this projection? NO

After reading other coments i agree with them that this tv does have a quality picture and sound Just lacks in 1080p and more hdmi ports then again for its price its still good value for money and bear in mind ok the bulbs to go. But when they go you end up with a new tv picture. no screen burn and no shadowing
very light for its size as well . No problems with transporting on its side and easy to move around.

I was looking to buy big screen tv and I was thrill to see this tv on ebay.The main thing was the brand of tv and size and of course very reasonable price.I am pleased to purchase this tv and I am very happy what I have got.

had this tv for just over 12 months, excellent. bulb prices? £75.00 ebay. no blur or moving picture smearing. no problem with screen burn, High Definition picture to die for. huge screen, freeview included. attach sony ps3 to this for games and be happy with the size of screen. then use the blu-ray dvd player and be blown away!

Also had this TV for 18 months with no problems unlike the other reviewer.

A little confused by his comment on bulbs costing £230,if you look on the well known auction site eBay,you will see new bulbs for approx £75.

LCDs and Plasma screens also have issues but cost a lot lot more to repair when they go wrong.

Also rear projection does not have the motion blur seen on the LCDs and Plasma screen, also no screen burn in problems.
