Light, small and works well - just what one would want - I have tortoises and they needed something small and inexpensive in their living area as they love to hear music and voices. This little radio has a good reception and sound and if it should get damp then I don't hesitate buying another at this price. It does just what I want it to do - no more and no less. Doesn't zap up the batteries either and it runs all day from morning till evening.
My tortoises are enjoying having it, especially with the weather being as it is - they are not venturing out so this keeps them company when I am not around.

can't fault this - well designed - lightweight - sensitive tuning.
the sound is suprisingly good through it's own internal speaker but of equal importance is the quality of the ICF-S22's signal output which means you get great sound when a pair of external speakers is attached via the mini-jack socket.
I'd been looking for a small radio to take with me when I go fishing and I came across this little beauty.
The first thing I noticed was that it was made by Sony, so it was a pretty good bet that it would be sturdy and well made. Having now taken receipt of it, I can honestly say that it's a solid piece of kit. OK it won't appeal to everyone because it's not the thinnest radio that I've ever come across, but what do you want out of a radio that doesn't cost very much. If you want thin, with loads of features and reliability, then pay more - a whole lot more.
It hasn't got a digital readout, but just the old fashioned analogue display. You just turn the dial until you find your chosen channel, extend the aerial, and away you go. I bought this to replace an old and cheap radio I previously used on fishing trips. The old radio had problems in picking up some stations in certain areas. This however has no such problems. I took this with me yesterday to a spot where the old one would fade in and out. The signal on this Sony radio however stayed strong for the 6 hours I was fishing.
I can't yet comment on the battery life but it was good for the 6 hours yesterday and I can't see it using up too much battery life. I use re-chargeables anyway.
So there you have it. A sturdy, well built radio that should last you for some time and won't break the bank.
Small portable radio, good reception and battery life, Handy for moving around the house and when travelling. Tuning indicator light useful, good with headphones.
i use this radio for work on site, it is easy to use and the sound is great for such a small radio. i would buy another one of these if anything happend to mine. 5 out of 5!!!
Like the styling, typically good Sony build quality, very clear sound & precise tuning & reception. Sound is a little tinny but couldn't expect more from such a small unit. Battery life on analogues is way better than DAB's so if your after something that'll fit in a pocket & not be limited to headphones this is probably the one to beat.
The radio was delivered in good time and the packaging, for a delicate item, was substantial. I have bought an identical product from a high street retailer in the past, and the one I bought on ebay was excellent value.
