The Sony W5 is one of the heavier pocket cameras. Its strong points being a fast start up even when fitted with a 2gb memory stick. It has a viewfinder which is essential to all cameras but fitted on few. A filter thread which allows for camera expansion. A manual mode which allows you to turn off auto focus and the likes to allow fast shooting. It allows starry sky shots with its long manual exposure time. A reasonable resolution at 5 megapixels and a decent macro mode. Three focusing modes cover virtually all occasions.
While the camera is not as versatile as an SLR its about as close as you are going to get with a compact. The W5 to w17 all have similar specs though some have 7 megapixel resolution.
Never mind about the number of pixels ,it's the quality of the lense that counts. This camera gives very sharp and clear images due to it's superior lense. Highly recommended.
