Sense And Sensibility (DVD 1998)

A really good watch, even if I prefer Colin Firth! Funny, romantic, fairly accurate period detail. The houses used throughout this film are a defiante must-visit, and the DVD has an extra bonus which reveals locations and details of the houses. Definately well worth purchasing!

This is a classic film with lots of big name stars and whats more its completely british. You have Emma Thompson, Hugh Grant, Greg Wise, Kate Winslet, Alan Rickman, Imogen Stubbs, James Fleet and Hugh Laurie. You don't get an all star cast much bigger than that - not in a completely British acted film anyway. The acting is mostly splendid, except the odd scene. I for one loe this film and would recommended it to anyone who enjoys the traditional old fashioned romance.

Daughter says its a good film, got it on ebay cheap as well, great stuff. I love it when a plan comes together.

Well spoken English film, good story, well know cast. Great value, ideal as I have a DVD player and want to change to disc and discontinue video tapes. Great for students learning English.

A excellent film, and a classic take on the Jane Austen novel! This film is totally unmissable for anyone who loves a visually beautiful and accomplished movie!

Fantastic adaptation of the Jane Austen novel with an all star cast. A timeless classic, suitable for all ages.

Following the recent BBC series of Sense and Sensibility we bought the 1998 film as a comparision. Whilst we found the 2008 TV adaptation was more dramatic in terms of the contrasting characters, dramatic coastal seascapes and period settings, the 1998 film is truer to the original storyline. Of course the young actors as they were in 1998 are now successful international screen stars and it will be interesting to see where the younger actors of the 2008 adaptation are in 10 years time! In summary, both have a value and are very good in analysing the story for English Literature.

This wonderful Movie is a True Classic, A Fairytale Love Story.
This Movie is the Best Adaptation yet.
Every time I watch this it always brings a tear to my eye, but also makes you laugh.
I had it on VHS for years but thought I should really upgrage to DVD, I will watch this Magnificent Film Forever, Well Done Emma Thompson!!!

This is a fantastic costume drama. If you Jane Austen then this is a true classic. It has you glued to the set all the way through and is a lovely classic love story. The costumes and old English settings and manor houses are amazing. Well worth a look!

I have bought quite a few things on e-bay so far, but never did I have any problems, till I ran into a seller called dvdclearance, who turned out to be a fraudster. I won a Sense and Sensibility dvd in auction and paid for it. He took the money and disappeared without sending the dvd and e-bay have not done anything about tracing this cheat!! This is the only disappointment I have had and hopefully is the last!
