Sega Dreamcast

After many years of playing video-games I now find myself at the age of 21, i am working full time and supporting my independant life with my beautiful partner. I have therefore lost touch with the modern high spec consols available today. I would love to own one but personally feel that the attraction to these modern games has dissapeared, its amazing how quickly you mature and consequently loose interest in something that ment so much.
However the buzz for some of the older consols which i grew up with has never dissapeared, and consequently i decided to purchase a Sega Dreamcast; a console which had so much potential but was never given the oppertunity to demonstrate it. The Dreamcast is a unique machine, it hasn't got the modern look of the PS2 or X-BOX but holds its own in a simplistic design which is typical to retro-gaming. The graphical performance of the Dreamcast is like any other consol, some games are good and others not so good, you may be surprised to know that the Dreamcast is not that different from the PS2 as far as its power. In fact there are a series of games(of which were the main reason i decided to buy one of these machines) whose graphic content can even rival most of the modern games availabe on the PS2 today. One of them being the Shenmue series, one of the most impressive games ever to be made, and i believe that this game is in the top 10 best games of all time along with the legendary Goldeneye(N64) or Super Mario(SNES).
The controler is very comfortable, with a design that ties in very closely to the offical X-BOX controller, only with a one of a kind feature. The controller has a 2x memory card slot and the Dreamcast memory cards have built in low-res screens which interect with gameplay in the sense that tips or hints, health levels or game progress will be displayed through the memory card's screen. There is a small window in the center of the controller which the memory card's screen can be viewed through.
As for the Memory card, it can be removed and carried around, and thanks to its built in screen it has a number of arcade style games, that you can play on the go.
To conclude, the Dreamcast was a one of a kind console, and due to its short exsistance due to SEGA's bankrupcy. It was always in short supply and now is a dieing legacy. It has many great features and titles, fans of games like Sonic will not be dissapointed. Cheap Dreamcast games can be found in shops like Gamestation or Game exchange for little more than a fiver!
There are a lot of used Dreamcast's about on e-bay for low prices, and thanks to SEGA's high build quality they will last many years to come.
So if your a video game fanatic like i was, why not invest in a peice of Video-game history, the Dreamcast was the last ever consol to be made by the legendary SEGA, and therefore should b preserved. If you find you don't like it, you can always ebay it!
